We assume a meeting room with following dimensions:
L x W x H = 6.0 x 3.6 x 2.7 m (total volume of 58 m3).
Based on a maximum occupation of 12 persons and a
minimum fresh air flow of 30 m3/h, primary air flow will be
360 m3/h. With an induction factor of only 2, there will be

Selection example & specification description
Specified data:
Office (LxWxH) = 5.4 x 3.6 x 2.7 m
Supply air (two times ventilation) q1 = 29 l/s
Required active chilled beam sizes = 1800 x 300 mm (2 x)
Cooling capacity for design room temperature(Troom) 25oC/55% RH Ttot = 1150 W
Heating capacity for design room temperature(Troom) 20oC Ttot = 1100 W
Chilled water temperature TW,in = 16oC
Heating water temperature TW,in = 40oC
Supply air temperature (summer) T1 = 17oC
Supply air temperature (winter) T1 = 17oC
The temperature differences of the supply air and the cooling water related to the room temperature are:
ΔTAC = 25oC - 17oC (Troom – T1) = 8K
ΔTWC = 25oC - 16oC (Troom – Tw,in) = 9K
The cooling capacity can be extracted from the performance data for cooling (page 8, size 1800).
According to the performance data for heating (page 10, size 1800) the model meets the required heating capacity as well
in which:
ΔTAH = 17oC - 20oC (T1 – Troom ) = -3K
ΔTWH = 40oC - 20oC (TW,in – Troom) = 20K

Specification description
The chilled beam type AIR-FIT®, manufactured by HC Barcol-Air, shall be used to compensate for the external
and internal heat load and shall maintain the thermal comfort in the room within acceptable noise criteria and
other comfort parameters.
Control description
Primary air will be supplied by a fresh air handling unit into the distribution plenum. The static pressure in the
plenum will “force” the primary air through the induction nozzles into the mixing section and from the mixing
section the air will be equally distributed by the two opposite slot diffusers into the room.
The special construction of the jet nozzles (provided with 3 different diameter positions) will induce return air
from the room through the return perforated screen or linear bar, located in the center between the two opposite
slots. This air will pass a cooling and/or heating heat exchanger before it mixes with the primary air and before it
will be supplied back into the room.
Dimensions
• Width: The chilled beam shall be available in standard width 295 (model 300) or 595 mm (model 600).
• Length: The lengths can be variable, but shall be available in standard lengths of 1200, 1500, 1800, 2400
and 3000 mm.
• Height: The height of the chilled beam (including distribution plenum) shall not be more 210 mm (model 300)
or 242 mm (model 600).
Finish
• The short sides of the chilled beam shall have 6 mm diameter mounting holes for easy installation.
• The visible housing of chilled beam shall have RAL 9010 powder coated finish with 70% gloss.
Other RAL colors available on request.
