Maruti Suzuki India Limited

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, commonly referred to as Maruti and formerly known as Maruti
Udyog Limited, is an automobile manufacturer in India. It is a subsidiary of Japanese automobile
and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki. As of July 2018, it had a market share of 53% of the Indian
passenger car markets. Maruti Suzuki India Limited engages in manufacturing, marketing, sale
and export of motor vehicles, components, and spare parts in India and internationally. The
company produces passenger cars, light duty utility vehicles, and multi-purpose vans primarily.
Maruti Suzuki is also involved in the facilitation of pre-owned car sales, fleet management, and
car financing business. The company has its Head Office Located in New Delhi.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY:

The study of the strategic alliance of the Maruti Suzuki (Pvt.) Limited will be focussing on the
following objectives:

i. To study the evolution of the company and how the alliance with Suzuki helped Maruti to
acquire a major chunk of the Indian Automobile industry.
ii. To study the growth strategy of the Maruti Suzuki (Pvt.) Limited
iii. To study the Post liberalisation expansion of the company in India
iv. To study the strategy that the company follows and how it has changed over the years.
v. To study the major challenges that the company faced in the industry and the resolution
mechanisms that it implemented to overcome the problems faced.

Study of development of Startegic alliance between Maruti and Suzuki

a) Strategy Development: Strategic development of the alliance and the growth strategies
that were implemented.
b) Partner Assessment: Partner evaluation includes investigating a potential accomplice's
qualities and shortcomings.
c) Contract Negotiation: Contract negotiations between both the companies and the
contract specifications
d) Alliance Operation: Alliance operation including appointment of board and running of
the company and the organization structure.
