Ensemble Choices
I play with only high quality, conservatory trained musicians. There is a large number of
colleagues I play with who I’ve been playing with for many years in chamber music,
orchestras, weddings, and events. Rest assured we will look and act professionally, arrive
early, and play well!

Most people determine the size of their ensemble based on their budget.
The more musicians there are the fuller the sound will be.

Solo Cello
A solo cello for your wedding is a beautiful option. Smaller and more intimate ceremonies
inside and outside sound great. I have played many many solo cello wedding ceremonies
with very positive feedback. It has a variety of classical options but fewer contemporary
pieces sound good with just one musician.

Duo
{Cello with one of the following instruments: Violin, Piano, Flute}
By far one of my most popular ensembles is the violin and cello duo. When the cello is
playing with the violin or flute, the cello has the accompaniment roll and the violin or flute
the melody, whereas with the cello and piano duo the cello is the more featured sound.

Trio
{Violin, viola and cello (string trio) or Violin, cello, and piano}
This ensemble sounds very similar to the string quartet but has a less full sound. It offers a
wide variety of classical and contemporary music.

String Quartet
{Two violins, viola, and cello}
This is the most traditional and classical wedding ensemble. It offers the most variety of
classical and contemporary music and has the fullest sound.
General Information
Ceremony Music
The ceremony processional is the biggest and most special musical part of the ceremony
and you will have specific pieces for different parts of the processional (see Ceremony
Music). There are a few things to keep in mind to keep the music running smoothly along
with the ceremony.
It is nice and more special if the start of each part of the processional waits to process after
a few seconds of their piece has been played. This enssures that the musicians have
changed their music and are ready. Don’t start walking without any music playing 
For the bride, remember that this is your special moment where your guests and possibly
your groom are seeing you for the first time. Walk slowly to give everyone a good look!

Playing Outdoors
Our instruments are very sensitive and delicate to sunlight, temperature, and rain. The
majority of the time playing outdoors is fine, however please see the following
considerations:
 Our instruments can’t be outside under 55 degrees Farenheit.
 All events are “rain or shine” unless otherwise stipulated. There should be an
alternative inside location or a tent provided to cover the area where the
musicians perform.
 Our instruments can’t be out under hot sun, so we might set up in nearby
shade or a tent needs to be provided.

Tipping
Like any service, if you were pleased with the music we provided, how we arrived early,
looked nice, acted professional, then we do appreciate the awknowledgement of a tip.

The Rehearsal
I, and the musicians I collaborate with, have many years experience playing for weddings.
As long as we have all the information in the Information Sheet, then you don’t need to
worry about us at all. However, if you would feel better to have us there to practice with,
we can come for an additional fee that would be based on travel and rehearsal time.
When we collaborate with the church organist or with a family member for a special song,
we will meet the day of and rehearse at the venue plenty of time before the prelude begins.

Location
I, and the musicians I collaborate with, are located in New York City. We will travel up to 3
hours for an event, however some exceptions are made.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book you for my event?
You would just need to sign a simple, one page contract and pay the 50% deposit. For the
contract I will just need your phone number and email, the name of the venue or location,
the time you would like us to start playing (usually 30 minutes before the ceremony for
prelude music while guests arrive) and end playing. Then I’ll email it for you to look over,
sign and date, then scan and email or mail back to me along with the 50% deposit.

Do you perform songs not on the song lists?

Yes! We can perform almost any song you would like. It is just an extra $5 per requested
song to purchase the music and arrange it for the ensemble. Many pop/contemporary
songs sound best with at least a duo or larger ensemble. I’m happy to advise whether or not
a requested song would sound good with any ensemble.

Do you have amplification?

Duo and larger ensembles rarely need amplification to be heard. The accoustics of inside
locations and churches suit the music well and does not need amplification. Exceptions are
for very large weddings or large outdoor weddings and in those cases we are happy to
work with your sound person to have the music amplified as well. If you are having solo
cello for your wedding and/or cocktail hour again, most of the time it does not need
amplification. I do have a Bose L1 Compact system for the solo cello if there is a larger
ceremony or if it is a large outdoor space. All I need is to have access to an outlet within 100
feet.

When do musicians arrive at the venue?

We arrive at the venue 30 minutes before the contracted playing time. This gives us more
than enough time to set up and warm up before we start playing.

What methods of payment do you accept?

I accept payment of cash, check, PayPal, or via the GigMasters site. If you wish to pay
through PayPal there is an additional 3% fee.
Information Sheet
Please return one month before the day of the wedding.

Technicalities
Officient’s name:
Number of guests:
Musicians’ dress:  Khaki casual nice  Semi-formal black (the musicians’ standard)  Formal black
How long is the aisle? (Estimate or general answer is fine):

Where would you like the musicians to play? (Normally we are either off to the side of the grooms
facing the guests at an angle or we are at the back of the guests. Sometimes we are near the organ or
in the organ loft):

If musicians will be amplified, where and how far is the nearest electrical outlet?:

If it’s an outside wedding, where is the back-up location in case of weather?:

Ceremony
What is the number of people and their order in the processional, and what is their music?
Example:
1) 2 sets of parents: Arioso, Bach 1)

2) 5 groomsmen with 5 bridesmaids: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring 2)

3) 2 flower girls: same as above 3)

4) Ring bearer: same as above 4)

5) Bride with Dad: Canon in D, Pachelbel 5)

Will groomsmen line up at the front during prelude or are they part of the processional?

Who can cue the musicians to end the prelude music and begin the processional music? (Please ask
this person to come by sometime before or during the prelude to say hello!):

What is the final thing said or done in the ceremony before you walk down the aisle and we play the
recessional music?

Recessional Music:
Ceremony Music
Prelude
Music while guests are arriving and being seated 20-30 minutes before the ceremony starts. This is
usually light classical music left to the musician’s discretion.

Bridal Party Processional

Slow but flowing music sets the official start to the ceremony, while the bridesmaids and other
members of the party walk down the aisle.

Bridal Processional
This is the most special and personal music in the ceremony. The music should be grand, elegant, and
walking speed. This should be separate music from the Bridal party’s music.

Interlude
For most wedding ceremonies, the interlude is the unity candle, memorial candle, or rose presentation.
These are moments of quiet reflection, and the wedding music you choose should encourage this
mood.

Recessional
This is the last piece of music in the wedding ceremony, where the wedding party departs and guests
start to leave for the reception area. It should be jubilant and celebratory.

Postlude
While guests are still leaving, or mingling before moving on to the reception, this music is refined and
upbeat, and is left to the musician’s discretion.

Cocktail
If you choose to have the wedding ceremony musician(s) during cocktail, non-classical pop and jazz
songs and classics are played, and are left to the musician’s discretion.
