Figure 1-10 ATS-63T1 conceptual diagram

The ATS working principles are as follows:

 Set the ATS to work in DG 1+mains or DG 1+DG 2 mode by using the DIP switch on
the side of the ATS main control box. The ATS works in DG 1+mains mode by default.

Issue 01 (2014-10-30) Huawei Proprietary and Confidential 8

ATS-63A1&ATS-63A2&ATS-63T1
User Manual 1 Overview

After the ATS main control box is powered on (including hot and cold resetting), the working scenario is
controlled by the DIP switch. After the ATS main control box is connected to the host, the working
scenario is controlled by the host, and the DIP switch becomes invalid.
 DG 1+mains mode
− If the mains is normal, the ATS switches to the mains. Then the loads are powered by
the mains.
− If the mains is faulty, the ATS sends a startup signal to the DG. The DG connects to
the loads for power supply.
− If the mains recovers, the ATS switches to the mains after a delay check and shuts
down the DG.
− The cycle continues based on actual situations.
 DG 1+DG 2 mode
− During initial operation, the ATS checks DG 1 contactor. If the contactor is in good
condition, the ATS sends a startup signal to DG 1. After the DG 1 output reaches the
specified value, DG 1 returns a control signal to the ATS. Then the ATS connects DG
1 to the loads for power supply.
− When the DG 1 operating period expires or DG 1 experiences a fault (for example,
contactor fault, overvoltage, or no voltage), the ATS sends a startup signal to DG 2.
After the DG 2 output reaches the specified value, DG 2 returns a control signal to
the ATS. Then the ATS connects DG 2 to the loads for power supply.

If the contactor of a route is faulty, no power is supplied over this route.

 If DG 1 and DG 2 work in active/standby mode, the ATS switches to DG 2 if DG 1 is faulty, or to
DG 1 if DG 2 is faulty.
 If DG 1 and DG 2 work in mutual backup mode, the ATS switches between DG 1 and DG 2 every 8
hours by default.
− When the DG 2 operating period expires or DG 2 experiences a fault (for example,
contactor fault, overvoltage, or no voltage), the ATS sends a startup signal to DG 1.
After the DG 1 output reaches the specified value, DG 1 returns a control signal to
the ATS. Then the ATS connects DG 1 to the loads for power supply.
 The ATS provides one 10 A single-phase AC output.
 (Optional) The ATS provides one maintenance socket output.

Symptom
The ATS has no AC output in Bypass mode because the DG shuts down.

Cause
In Bypass mode, the mains/DG 2 AC input circuit breaker is ON. If the mains resumes, the
ATS generates a DG 1 shutdown signal because it determines that the mains is preferred. As a
result, DG 1 shuts down and the ATS has not input.

Solution
Step 1 Disconnect the communications cable between the ATS and DG 1, and restart DG 1.
Step 2 After DG 1 starts, switch the mains/DG 2 AC input circuit breaker to OFF.
Step 3 Check whether the ATS generates AC signals.
Step 4 If no, check the cable connections or contact the maintenance personnel.

After the Bypass mode becomes normal, perform other maintenance tasks.

----End

Using the Bypass Switch

If the ATS main control box is faulty, turn the Bypass switch to Bypass to connect DG 1 and
the ATS by performing the following steps to ensure continuous AC output from the ATS.
Step 1 In the DG 1+mains or DG 1+DG 2 scenario, switch the ATS to the Bypass mode if you
ensure that DG 1 has AC input.
Step 2 Switch the mains circuit breaker (in the DG 1+mains scenario) or DG 2 AC input circuit
breaker (in the DG 1+DG 2 scenario) to OFF.
Step 3 Replace the main control box and connect the cable to the new box.
