NOTICE
YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT THE BOARD OF STATE CANVASSERS WILL
CONDUCT A MEETING ON NOVEMBER 26, 2018 AT 2:00 P.M. IN ROOM 426 OF THE
STATE CAPITOL BUILDING, LANSING, MICHIGAN.

Included on the Agenda will be:


- Consideration of meeting minutes for approval (November 15, 2018 meeting).

- Consideration of whether two recall petitions submitted by Dean Schuette on November 16, 2018
state factually and clearly each reason for the recall of Jackson County Sheriff Steven Rand. The
reasons for recall printed by Mr. Schuette in the headings of the petitions are as follows:
First recall petition:
On February 20, 2018 the Jackson County Board of Commissioners passed
Resolution 02-18.9, requesting Steven Rand resign from the office of Sheriff,
effective immediately.

Second recall petition:


On August 8, 2017, Sheriff Steven Rand accidently discharged a hand gun in his
office at the Jackson County Sheriffs Dept. This is a violation of Michigan Law:
752.863a.
- Canvass and certification of the results of the November 6, 2018 general election.

- Recording the results of the following special elections held November 6, 2018:

The results of the Wayne County canvass for the special election for the office of U.S.
Representative in Congress, 13th District, partial term ending January 3, 2019.
The results of the Wayne County canvass for the special election for the office of State
Senator, 2nd District, partial term ending January 1, 2019.
The results of the Ingham County canvass for the special election for the office of State
Representative, 68th District, partial term ending January 1, 2019.
- Such other and further business as may be properly presented to the Board.

wishes to address the Board on an agenda item at the time the item is being discussed must submit a
written request to the Chairperson of the Board prior to the opening of the meeting. Persons
addressing the Board are allotted three minutes.
