Test 1a– 1 ½ hours

1. a) Calculate the degree of static redundancy for the frame shown in Figure 1.
b) Count and show it in the sketch the degree of freedom for the frame shown in
Figure 1. Assume all beams and columns do not extend or contract axially.
(5 points)

2. For the frame shown in Figure 2, write the compatibility equations if all reaction
forces at support D are to be considered as redundant. Consider also that support D
moves downward by dy .
(10 points)

3. Support C in Figure 3 settles downward by 10 mm. Using force method, analyze the
beam and calculate all reaction forces. Draw bending moment and shear force
diagrams. Assume E = 200 GPa and I = 45(106) mm4.
(15 points)

4. Using slope-deflection method, analyze the frame shown in Figure 4. Draw bending
moment and shear force diagrams. Assume EI constant.

Test 1b – 1 ½ hours

1. a) Calculate the degree of static redundancy for the frame shown in Figure 1.
b) Count the number of degree of freedom (DOF) for the frame shown in Figure
1 and show it in a sketch. Assume all beams and columns do not extend or
contract axially.

2. For the frame shown in Figure 2, write the compatibility equations if all reaction
forces at support A are to be considered as redundant. Consider that support A move
to the right by dx .
(4 points)

3. Support B in Figure 3 settles downward by 10 mm. Using force method, analyze the
beam and calculate all reaction forces. Draw bending moment and shear force
