1. Describe the Code Lavender experience you or your group will provide (be specific and include the date this will occur) and event should NOT exceed 5
minutes.
On October 10th, our group will bring in snacks, dark chocolate, oranges, and pumpkin seeds, which have been proven to help reduce stress.

2. What is the Evidence Based Practice rationale for providing this type of experience/modality? Please include citation within the past 5 years.
Wongvibulsin (2014) states eating nutritious food can counterbalance the effects of stress by enhancing the immune system, improving mood, and
lowering blood pressure. Pumpkin seeds are considered a brain food due to being a food high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Therefore, they aid in brain
development, memory retention, and mental health. Dark chocolate can reduce stress at the cellular level and increase cognitive function and stabilize
one’s mood. Oranges are high in vitamin C, which can reduce stress and boost the immune system. During times of anxiety, vitamin C decreases cortisol
levels and blood pressure.
