Creating
History
11th grade
VUS.7 The student will
apply social science skills to
understand the Civil War
and Reconstruction eras and
their significance as major
turning points in American
history by describing major
events and the roles of key
leaders of the Civil War era,
with emphasis on Jefferson
Davis, Ulysses S. Grant,
Robert E. Lee, and
Frederick Douglass;
Students will create an
interactive map that
incorporates Revolutionary
War events and leaders.
Using students will create
10 significant places on the
American map that
incorporate at least one of
the listed people, what
occured in the location, the
date, historical significance,
and images. The teacher will
explain how the students
register and start creating
their maps.

11th grade
VUS.4: The student will
apply social science skills to
understand the issues and
events leading to and during
the Revolutionary Period by
explaining how conflicting
loyalties created political
differences among the
colonists concerning
separation from Great
Britain.
Students will partner up and
create individual “letters”
that they will send to each
other using ShareIt. Both
partners will be writing from
the perspective of either a
Patriot or a Loyalist. The
objective of the letter is to
discuss what life was like for
them pre- Revolutionary War
and to persuade their
partner why they should join
their side. Students must
use factual evidence to
support their claims. Once
their letter is finished,
 students will use the ShareIt
app to electronically send
their letters. When
.registering for the app, the
teacher will show the
students how to add each
other to a group and how to
add the teacher.
