I am naturally reflective
as a person, so this is one
of my major strengths in
both my personal and
professional life. One
thing I do is I modify my
lessons each time I teach
them. I look for typos,
natural flow, and timing
of differentiation
between direct
instruction and informal
assessment to keep my
students engaged and to
give myself time to
recover from long
periods of talking.

I always welcome call
families and I also call
when small victories are
achieved by their
students. Parents are
starting to believe that
we only contact them
when trouble occurs. A
healthy relationship
between teacher and
parent should include
both positive and
negative communication.
It is also extremely
important for the teacher
to remind the parent that
they are on the same
team, this is something I
do regularly so that I face
less resistance when
discussing major issues
about their student.

INNOVATING – I carry myself with a professional
demeanor. This is demonstrated in my government
class, in which many teachers may use that platform
to teach a specific political perspective to further their
own agendas. I choose to focus on objectivity and
teach my students to understand American politics
and the stereotypical left and right of the spectrum as
these will be common perspectives they encounter in
the “real world.” I encourage them to identify bias in
their textbook, with me, and with their teachers.
