Technology for Environment Nowadays

Wasteful energy policies in environment, overuse of resources to, a limited sources of clean
water, global climate change , problem with urbanization and deforestation are just some of
the environmental issues that experts say need to be addressed for humans to achieve
sustainable living on this planet. By the year 2025, an additional 2.9 billion (sourced United
Nation) people will strain tightening water supplies, and the world's energy needs will go up
more than 60 percent by 2030. How people live to solved environmental problem nowadays
its always have relation with some technologies and technology itself is often touted as the
savior that will rescue us from our environmental degradation. There is no denying that
technology has both made life better and easier for billions of people and any other argue that
technology is a double edged sword-one capable both doing and undoing damage to
environmental quality. Like technologist Ramez Naam said ih his book The Infinite Resource,

“… the solutions to one problem have created new problems. But, had we not boosted yields
through the green revolution, we either would have had billions starving or would have been
forced to chop down the world's remaining forests to feed the world. Either of those would be a
worse result than the side effects we face now.” In that statement called about green revolution,

its refers to iniciative in the adoption of new technologies that increased agricultural
production worldwide, particularly in the developing world, beginning most markedly in the
late 1960s.

Present, environmental issues or problems always associated with the development of the
city, because the development of a city in line with the processes involved that given
contribution for environment, list of the problem for examples, air Polution contributed from
green house gasses and gas emission because increase in travel or from industrialization and
widely gave health problem, the air pollution to widely created other problems like urban
heat island then climate change. Land use problem and excess deforestation to provide new
places for people and in mega cities become like concrete jungle and many other problems
like water pollution, noise polution, problem with waste treatment and now scientist and
technologist looking for any other solution for renewable resources energy. To gaive solution
for that problems actually it takes not just only one aspect, like the world now that looking at
all environmental issues to be solved with the existence of technology. Technology is part of
the settlement or prevention of environmental degradations, we must looking for another
aspects who can support technology and minimizing side effects from that, we need more
researches, knowledges, creativities, innovations, etc to make the solution for environmental
problem still sustainable.

This one interesting example, Singapore has built up an enviable track record in
environmental management and is known for its clean and green reputation. As a progressive
user of environmental technologies in Asia, Singapore is known to have struck a balance
between economic development and environmental protection. Through the years, Singapore
environmental services companies have developed technical expertise in the areas of water
technology, waste and wastewater treatment, clean air, consulting and engineering services. If
we looking back from their history, they planned and predictioned carefully and considerably
their city 50 years ago. They considered environment and resouces as one of the most vital
area to developed. Before world now arguing and talking about sustainable development or
green technology or sustainability, Singapore stated that they developed the city in
sustainability way,

“while the challenges today are vastly different from the 1960s, priority remains the same:
catering for economic growth and a good quality of life, maintaining a clean and green
environment, and making the best use of the resources. To achieve sustainable development, we
need to preserve options for the next generation. Often, we need to make difficult decisions that
may require trade-offs in the short term but will reap benefits in the longer term. We also have to
carefully manage diverse and competing land use demands and priorities. It is not about keeping
every tree and shrub in Singapore untouched or about building as many petro-chemical plants as
we can. It is about considering all land use demands comprehensively so that potential trade-offs
between uses can be evaluated holistically for continued economic growth and the provision of
good quality living environments.” (URA-Designing our city Singapore).

Singapore use more technology to keep their city sustainable and livable its true, the
technology that they are use, absorbed energy and have environmental impacts that’s true
too.

Like we stated from the first time in this essay, the new production of technologies had a far
greater environmental impact than the ones they replaced and the new technologies also used
more electric power and other forms of energy than those they replaced. But how we could
keep alwyas constantly guiding the approaches to sustainable development is far-sighted,
holistic, and comprehensive planning, which enables us to take into account future
development needs through an integrated planning process. So, we can conclude that
technology can give two side effects for our environment, positive and negative but its depend
on how we exploited technology wisely for the environment. The way in which technology has
become an integral and inseparable part of our life and social system is examined.
