TRANSFORMER TESTING

1. INSULATION RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT

(Applicable Standard – IEC 60076- 1:2011-Clause 3.9)

Test Setup

Test Procedure

1. Test result Check the configuration to be measured

2. Say Typical X – Y
3. Connect X to + ve Terminal of Megger
4. Connect Y to – ve Terminal of Megger
5. Select the Voltage Rating of Megger
6. Operate the Megger and record Values at 60 Secs

2. TURNS RATIO & MAGNETIZING CURRENT TEST

(Applicable Standard – IEC 60076-1:2011-Clause 11.3 & IEC 60076-1:2011-Clause 11.5)

Test Procedure for Turns Ratio Test

1. Isolate primary/secondary/neutral earth.

2. Switch on the kit.
3. Select the transformer page.
4. Enter the test voltage and pressing the start button, the test card displays.
5. For this test, a test voltage of up to 400V is injected on the transformer high voltage side.
6. This voltage is measured internally with high precision.
7. The voltage and phase angle on the low voltage winding is measured back via the
measuring input.
8. The ratio is calculated automatically.
9. Repeat test for all tap positions.
Test Setup for Magnetizing Current Test

Test procedure
1. Keep LV side opened.
2. Apply 2000V in HV side as shown in figure and measure the current reading.
3. Repeat test for all tap positions.

3. MEASUREMENT OF WINDING RESISTANCE

(Applicable Standard – IEC 60076 -1:2011 Clause 11.2)

Test procedure
1. Isolate primary/secondary/neutral earth.
2. Switch on the kit
3. Select the transformer page
4. As per the instructions given by manual enter the test current and pressing the start button, the test
card displays
5. The deviation of the measurement over time during the period of charging the winding
6. The kit will automatically performs a discharging of the winding after saving the measurement
7. Measures the DC voltage
8. Measures the resistance

4. MAGNETIC BALANCE MEASUREMENT (IEC-60076-11:2000)

Test setup

Test procedure
1. Isolate primary/secondary/neutral earth.
2. Select the normal tap, Apply single phase voltage between R & Y.
3. Measure the voltages r & n, y & n, b & n, Y & B and B & R
4. Repeat the same procedures for the all other sequences in both primary and secondary of
the transformer.
