1. The Chinese had a somewhat friendly relationship with Tibet, but they left them alone.

2. They want their independence from China because they don’t want to be persecuted for
their religion.
3. They claim that Tibet is part of The Republic of China, so they are under the rule of the
Chinese government.
4. The Dalai Lama plays a role because United States presidents meet with him as a ruler
of the Tibetans, but China doesn’t see them as an independent country.
5. The conflict is still happening today, because they still can't decide.
6. I think TIbet should be its own independent country. China has persecuted and attacked
their “own,” city, so it wouldn’t make sense as to why they still claim them.
