IN ELDERLY

Aging is a process that can change a healthy person into a weakness.

Increased age will lead to decreased function including quality of sleep. In Commented [d2]: Pilihan katanya keliru

Indonesia, sleep disorders affect about 50% in the elderly. One of the factors that
can cause decreased quality of sleep is pain. Pain of joint (54.8%) is a common
pain disorder found in the elderly. This aims of studied was to examine the
relationship between pain intensity and the quality of sleep in elderly. This study
was an analytical cross-sectional design. The amount of sample in this study was Commented [d3]: study

37 elderly. Sampling method was total sampling technique. Data collection was
conducted from March 2018 in Riau Institutional Care. The research was
conducted by interviewing elderly that consist: the respondent data, questionnaire
Numerical Rating Scales (NRS), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The
result of this study showed 27 elderly had pain history (84.37%) with each mild
pain (21.87%), moderate (37.5%), severe (25%). While the quality of sleep data
obtained was 28.12% experienced better sleep quality and 71.88% had poor sleep Commented [d4]: 2 verb

week of sleep disturbances (34.38%), not during the past month use of sleeping
medication (96.88%), and lest than once a week of daytime dysfunction (56.25%).
Analysis of the data obtained by the Chi Square test p-value is 0.039. It means
that there was a significant relationship between the intensity of pain with sleep
