STATEMENT FROM THE FAMILY OF DONALD GIUSTI
‘As members of Donald Giusti’s family, we would first like to express our thanks to the Lewiston
Police Department and the Maine State Police for the time and effort they have spent
investigating the incident on June 12" that led to Donnie’s death, We'd also like to thank
Lewiston Mayor Shane Bouchard for the time he has spent meeting with us and advocating for
us with the agencies involved in the investigation. But now that seven months have passed, we
are concerned that the investigation remains open and charges have not been brought. We
sincerely hope that the investigators, their supervisors, and those leading this work have not
lessened their efforts to reach a conclusion and bring charges.
We have repeatedly heard from some involved in this case that charges will be filed and arrest
made shortly. We are tired of hearing that something will happen soon when nothing does,
and this makes us concerned that arrests won't happen. But we are not looking to be appeased
‘or put off. We can handle the truth and ask those in charge to share it with us.
Donnie’s case must also not fall through the cracks or be sidetracked due to other, more recent
crimes. The investigation must be full and complete and must be finished.
‘Those who are responsible for Donnie’s death must be held accountable, regardless of their age
or circumstances. It is not fair that Donnie’s daughter Hannah lost her father in this needless
incident. It’s not fair that those responsible remain free and have not been called to account
for their actions. Hannah deserves a dad to hug and to share her joys and sorrows with. She
is heartbroken that her father is not with her.
We are calling on Donnie's friends and/or acquaintances who witnessed this event to help us,
his family, by going to the Police and telling them what they know about his death and the
other fights and incidents that have followed it, We all want justice for Donnie. This is the best,
wey you can help us to get it. More violence or acts of revenge must stop. The next time, it
could be one of your loved ones who's injured or killed.
We just want justice for Donnie, peace for our community, and to avold another family like ours
dealing with the loss of a father, brother, or son.
