Activity 1 Introduction: Configuring the Load Batch

Data Process
Background
As an implementation consultant, you use HCM File-Based Loader to bulk-load

business objects to Oracle Fusion HCM.
Requirements
 You must have access to Oracle Fusion Applications InFusion database (or
comparable training or test instance at your site) on which to complete this
practice.
Activity Scope
Open the Manage HCM Configuration for Coexistence page and set the parameters
ODI Password and Loader Number of Processes.
Perform this activity once only in any environment.

Activity 1: Configuring the Load Batch Data Process
In this activity, you set the parameters that control the Load Batch Data process.
Sign in as user HCM_IMPL or another implementation user, such as HCM_IMPL1.
In environments that are accessed by multiple students, only one student needs to
perform this task.
Start Here
Setup and Maintenance work area, All Tasks tab
1. Enter Manage HCM Configuration for Coexistence in the Name field of the
Search section and click Search.
2. In the Search Results section, click Go to Task. The Manage HCM

Configuration for Coexistence page opens.
3. In the Parameters section, click Detach to view all parameters at once.
4. In the Loader Number of Processes field, enter 8 to replace the default value,
which is 1.
5. Enter a value (for example, welcome1) in the ODI Password field. This
parameter has no effect on HCM File-Based Loader, but a value is required. You
can leave other configuration parameters to use the default settings.
6. Click Detach to restore the parameters table to its default size.
7. Click Submit.
8. Click OK on the confirmation message.

Activity 2 Introduction: Generating the Mapping File
Background

Activity Scope
Open the manage HCM Configuration for Coexistence page and generate the mapping
file of cross-reference information for HCM business objects. Retrieve the file from the
Oracle WebCenter Content account hcm/dataloader/export and save it to your
desktop.

Activity 2: Generating the Mapping File
In this activity, you generate the mapping file of cross-reference information (GUIDs) for
Oracle Fusion HCM business objects, retrieve the file from the Oracle WebCenter
Content account hcm/dataloader/export, and save it to your desktop.
Start Here
1. In the Name field of the Search section, enter Manage HCM Configuration for
Coexistence and click Search.
2. In the Search Results section, click Go to Task. The Manage HCM

Configuration for Coexistence page opens.
3. In the Generate Mapping File for HCM Business Objects section, click
Submit. An information message showing the process ID appears. Make a note
of your process ID.
4. Click OK.
5. In the Generate Mapping File for HCM Business Objects section, click
Search to view the process summary. You may need to click Search more than
once if the process takes more than a few seconds to complete. The process
status value for your process ID must be 12.
6. Click Search again if the process status value is 13, which means that the
process has paused.
Note: If the process does not complete in a reasonable time, open the
Scheduled Processes work area (Navigator > Scheduled Processes) and
search for your process ID. In the Search Results section on the
Scheduled Processes page, note the Scheduled Time value for your process.
This time is set automatically and may be some minutes after the submission
time. Return to the Manage HCM Configuration for Coexistence page
(Navigator > Setup and Maintenance > Manage HCM Configuration for
Coexistence).

7. Once the process completes, the File column for your process ID on the
Manage HCM Configuration for Coexistence page shows the name of the zip
file that contains the generated GUIDs for Oracle Fusion HCM business objects.
Make a note of the file name.
8. On your desktop, create the folder FBL Sample Data. (Right-click, select New >
Folder, and enter the name FBL Sample Data.)
9. Open the folder FBL Sample Data and create three subfolders with these
names:
 GUIDs
 Create Data
 Update Data
Retrieving the Mapping File
1. Open the File Import and Export page (Navigator > Tools > File Import and
Export).
2. In the Search section, select hcm/dataloader/export in the Account field and

click Search.
3. In the search results, identify your mapping file by the name and date values.
4. Click the file name in the File column.
5. In the Opening window, select Save File and click OK.
6. In the Enter name of file to save to window, select the desktop folder FBL
Sample Data > GUIDs and click Save.
7. If the Downloads window is still open, then close it.
8. On the File Import and Export page, click Sign Out.
Information
You will use the cross-reference file of GUIDs in the next activity when you create your
sample data. You can extract the file to the FBL Sample Data > GUIDs folder if you
want to review the contents.

Activity 3 Introduction: Creating HCM File-Based

Loader Sample Data

Install the File Based Loader Desktop Integrator (FBLdi) tool and use it to generate
sample data.

Activity 3: Creating HCM File-Based Loader Sample Data

In this activity, you install the File Based Loader Desktop Integrator (FBLdi) tool, import
the GUIDs from Activity 2 to FBLdi, and generate sample data files (.dat files) for
upload.
Installing the FBLdi Tool
Start Here
Desktop
1. On your desktop, create the folder FBLdi. (Right-click, select New > Folder, and
name the folder FBLdi.)
2. Open the Training Workspace (PTS Oracle CRM & HCM Cloud Implementation
Training) and locate the FBLdiTool.zip file in folder Library > Documents > R8
HCM Cloud VB Training > Participation Guides > Technical > Import >
FBLdiTool.

Save the file to the desktop folder FBLdi. The download may take a couple of
minutes.
3. In the desktop folder FBLdi, select the file FBLdiTool.zip, right-click, and select
7-Zip > Extract Here. The file contents (a single folder named FBLdiTool) are
extracted to the FBLdi desktop folder.
4. Open the FBLdiTool folder, then the FBLdi2.1 folder.
5. To start the FBLdi tool, double-click the file startFBLdi2.1.bat in folder FBLdi2.1.
The FBLdi tool opens and the Welcome page appears.
Note for Mac Users
To start the FBLdi tool, enter the following command on the command line (select
Utilities > Terminal):
..\jre8\bin\java –jar FBLdi2.2.jar
Generating the Sample Data

1. In the left-hand pane of the FBLdi tool, click Setup.
2. On the Setup Information page, enter your student number in the Sequence#
field. For example, if you are student 04, then enter 04 in this field.
3. In the left-hand pane, click Generate Sample Files.
4. On the GUIDs from Cross-Reference File page, click Load Cross Reference
File.
5. In the Select XREF (zip) File dialog box, find the GUIDs zip file from Activity 2 in
the desktop folder FBL Sample Data > GUIDs and click Select.
6. In the Results pane at the bottom of the page, confirm that the following
message appears: File read complete for all Xref files.
7. In the Legal Entity ID field, select US1 Legal Entity:US.
8. In the Legislative Data Group field, select US Legislative Data Group:US.
9. Click Generate Sample Files.
10. In the Select the folder dialog box, find the desktop folder FBL Sample Data >
Create Data and click Select Folder. The sample data files are created
immediately.
11. In the Results pane at the bottom of the page, confirm that the following
message appears: File Generation Process is Complete.
12. Close the FBLdi tool.
Preparing the Sample Data for Loading
1. Open the desktop folder FBL Sample Data > Create Data. This folder contains
17 business object folders (BusinessUnit, ContentItem, Department,
Establishment, Grade, GradeRate, Job, JobFamily, Location, Person,
PersonContact, PersonDocumentation, Position, RatingModel, Salary,
SalaryBasis, and WorkRelationship).
2. Delete the following 7 folders: ContentItem, Establishment, PersonContact,

PersonDocumentation, RatingModel, Salary, and Salary Basis. This leaves you
with 10 business object folders.
3. Select the 10 business object folders, right-click, and select 7-Zip > Add to
archive….

4. In the Add to Archive dialog box, enter StudentnnCreate in the Archive: field,
where nn is your student number (for example, Student04Create).
5. Click OK. The zip file appears in the desktop folder FBL Sample Data > Create
Data.
6. In the FBL Sample Data > Create Data folder, take a copy of the Person folder
(do not rename it) and paste it in the FBL Sample Data > Update Data folder.
7. In the folder FBL Sample Data > Update Data, open the copied Person folder,
which contains 8 data (.dat) files. Delete all data files in this folder except
F_PERSON_EMAIL_VO.dat.
8. Double-click the F_PERSON_EMAIL_VO.dat file to edit it in Notepad as follows:
a. Delete all data lines from the file except the last one (Gary Norman). (Do
not delete the header line.)
b. Delete any blank line that appears between the header line and the data
line for Gary Norman.
c. In the Gary Norman line, change the email address ID from

STUDENTnn_EMAIL109 to STUDENTnn_EMAIL110, where nn is your
student ID. For example, if you are student 04, then this value is
STUDENT04_EMAIL110 after update.
d. Change the DATE_TO value from 4712-12-31 to 2012-04-16, which is

one month earlier than the DATE_FROM of the e-mail address. This is a
deliberate error that you will correct in a later activity.
e. Change the EMAIL_TYPE value from W1 to H1.
f. Change the EMAIL_ADDRESS from Gary.Norman@Studentnn.com (for

example, Gary.Norman@Student04.com) to
Gary.Norman@oracleads.com.
g. Change the PRIMARY_FLAG from Y to N.
h. Close the file F_PERSON_EMAIL_VO.dat and save your changes when

prompted.
9. In the folder FBL Sample Data > Update Data, select the Person object folder,
right-click, and select 7-Zip > Add to Archive.
10. In the Add to Archive dialog box, enter StudentnnUpdate in the Archive: field,
where nn is your student ID (for example, Student04Update).

11. Click OK. The zip file appears in the FBL Sample Data > Update Data folder.
You have now completed creating your sample data for this lesson.

Activity 4 Introduction: Delivering Data to the Oracle

WebCenter Content Server
Background

Deliver the StudentnnCreate.zip file of data (for example, Student04Create.zip) to

the import directory on the Oracle WebCenter Content server.

Activity 4: Delivering Data to the Oracle WebCenter Content

Server
In this activity, you deliver one of the zip files of data that you created in Activity 3 to the
Oracle WebCenter Content server.
Start Here
Home page
1. Navigate to the File Import and Export page (Navigator > Tools > File Import
and Export).
2. Click the Upload icon located in the Search Results section. The Upload File
dialog box appears.
3. Browse to select the file (for example, Student04Create.zip) from the desktop
folder FBL Sample Data > Create Data.
4. Select hcm/dataloader/import in the Account field.
5. Click Save and Close. The zip file is uploaded to the hcm/dataloader/import
account and appears automatically in the Search Results section of the File
Import and Export page.
Note:
One of the parameters required later in order to process the file is WebCenter
Content ID. This ID is automatically generated when the file is loaded. By default,
the Content ID is not displayed on the File Import and Export page. You can
make it visible by setting the Search Results table to include the column.
6. Select View - Columns - Content ID to include the Content ID column.
7. Note the value of the Content ID (for example, UCMFA357781).

Activity 5 Introduction: Importing and Loading Data to

Oracle Fusion HCM

Activity Scope
You import the zip file of data (for example, Student04Create.zip) from the
hcm/dataloader/import account on the Oracle Fusion WebCenter Content server to
the Load Batch Data stage tables using the Load Data for Coexistence task.
Note:
Students are recommended to perform this activity one at a time rather than
simultaneously to avoid locking the stage tables.

Activity 5: Importing and Loading Data to Oracle Fusion HCM

In this activity, import the zip file from the Oracle Fusion WebCenter Content server to
the Load Batch Data stage tables using the Load Data for Coexistence task.
Start Here
Data Exchange work area
1. In the Tasks pane, select the Load Data for Coexistence task.
2. On the Load Data for Coexistence page, click Import. The Import and Load
Data dialog box appears.
3. Enter the Content ID that you obtained when loading the file to the Oracle
WebCenter Content server using the File Import and Export interface.
4. Select All to load all the business objects from the zip file.
5. Provide a meaningful batch name (for example, StudentnnCreate).
Object names are prefixed with the batch name to provide a unique batch name
for each batch. For example, if your file contains Job and Job Family objects and
you specify the batch name Student01Create, then your batch names are
Student01Create:Job and Student01Create:JobFamily
6. Set the Loader Run Type parameter to Import and click Submit.

Activity 6 Introduction: Reviewing the Log File

You review the log file on the Load Data for Coexistence page.

Activity 6: Reviewing the Log File
In this activity, review the log file produced during the import process.
If you are not still signed in from the previous activity, then sign in as user HCM_IMPL
or another implementation user, such as HCM_IMPL1.
Start Here
1. If the Load Data for Coexistence page is not already open, then select the
Load Data for Coexistence task in the Tasks pane.
2. On the Load Data for Coexistence page, click Search. Previously run imports
should appear in the list. Your import process should be the first item in the list.
3. If your zip file does not already appear in the Search Results section, then enter
its Content ID in the File field of the Search section and click Search.
4. In the Search Results section, click Refresh if you need to update the status of
the import process for your file. You may need to click Refresh more than once
until the process completes and its status is Succeeded.
5. Click the log file in the same row of the Search Results table and examine its
contents.
Information
The log file provides a summary of the process of unzipping the file and importing
its contents to the stage tables. In the log file, look for the Total number of rows
processed, Total number of rows inserted into
HRC_LOADER_BATCH_LINES_SRC, and Total number of rows discarded
values. In this activity, you insert 199 rows into the
HRC_LOADER_BATCH_LINES_SRC table and process 10 objects.
6. Note that in the Details section of the Load Data for Coexistence page, you
see one batch entry for each business object found in your import file.
7. Click Done.

Activity 7 Introduction: Loading Data to the

Application Tables
Background

Requirements

Activity Scope
You have imported your data to the Load Batch Data stage tables and corrected any
import errors. The import process created 10 object-specific batches (for example,
Student01Create: Location, Student01Create: BusinessUnit, and so on). To load the
data from the stage tables to the application tables, you run the Load Batch Data
process for each of the 10 batches.

Activity 7: Loading Data to the Application Tables
In this activity, you load your data from the stage tables to the application tables.
Start Here
Data Exchange work area.
1. In the Tasks pane, click Load Batch Data to open the Load Batch Data page.
2. In the Batch Name field of the Search section, enter your batch name (for
example, Student01Create) and click Search.
3. In the Search Results section, you see all 10 batches extracted from your zip
file and imported to the stage tables. The status of all batches is New.
4. Select the batch Student01Create:Location and click Run. The Schedule

Request page opens.
5. Check that the correct batch name appears in the Batch Name field (for
example, Student01Create:Location). Accept the default values on the
Schedule Request page and click Submit.
7. On the Load Batch Data page in the Search Results section, click Refresh to
update the Batch Status and Process Status values. You may need to click
Refresh more than once until the process completes. When the process
completes, the Batch Status value for the Location batch is Complete.
8. On the Batch Summary tab in the Details section, review the summary of
successful and failed objects in the batch.
9. Repeat this process from Step 4 for the remaining batches in the following order:
BusinessUnit, Grade, GradeRate, JobFamily, Job, Person, Department,
Position, and WorkRelationship. Allow each batch to complete before you run
the next. When a batch completes, it moves to the top of the search results. To
move Complete batches to the bottom of the list, you can select Sort
Descending on the Batch Status column header.
10. When all batches are loaded, click Done to close the Load Batch Data page.

Activity 8 Introduction: Validating Loaded Data

You have loaded objects from the stage tables to the application tables using the Load
Batch Data process. In this activity, you search for several of the objects that you
loaded to confirm that they loaded successfully.

Activity 8: Validating Loaded Data
In this activity, you validate that your data loaded successfully.
Start Here
Locations
1. In the Name field of the Search section, enter Manage Locations and click
Search.
2. In the Search Results section, click Go to Task for the Manage Locations
task.
3. On the Manage Locations page, enter your student ID (for example, Student01)
in the Name field and click Search.
4. In the Search Results section, click the name of one of your locations to open
the Location page.
5. Review the details of the location.
6. Click Done to close the Location page.
7. On the Manage Locations page, click Done to return to the All Tasks tab of
the Setup and Maintenance work area.
Grades
1. In the Name field of the Search section, enter Manage Grades and click
Search.
2. In the Search Results section, click Go to Task for the Manage Grades task.
3. On the Manage Grades page, enter your student ID (for example, Student01)
in the Name field and click Search.
4. In the Search Results section, click the name of one of your grades to open the
Grade page.

5. Review the details of the grade.
6. Click Done to close the Grade page.
7. On the Manage Grades page, click Done to return to the All Tasks tab of the
Setup and Maintenance work area.
Persons and Work Relationships
Note: Before you search for individual person records, run the Update Person Search
Keywords process from the Scheduled Processes work area (Navigator > Tools >
Scheduled Processes). If multiple students share a single environment, only one
student needs to run the process.
1. Select Navigator > Person Gallery to open the Person Gallery work area.
2. In the Keywords field of the Search Person section, enter your student ID (for
example, Student01) and click Search.
3. In the Search Results section, select the entry for Gary Norman.
4. The portrait page of Gary Norman appears.
5. Under Actions, click All Actions.
6. Click Manage Person to open the Manage Person page for Gary Norman.
7. Explore the information on the tabs of the Manage Person page. Notice that
Gary Norman has one e-mail in the E-Mail Details section.
8. In the Tasks pane, click Manage Employment to view the employment

information for Gary.
9. Explore the work relationship and assignment information that you loaded.
10. Click Done to close the Manage Employment page.
11. Click Yes on the warning message.
12. On the Manage Person page, click Cancel to return to the Search Person
page. If you wish, search for and review other person records that you loaded.
If time allows, you can validate other business objects that you loaded. Enter your
student ID (for example, Student01) in the Name field of the Search section on the
following pages to find your business objects:

Activity 9 Introduction: Updating Loaded Data

Activity Scope
You have loaded person records successfully to the Oracle Fusion application tables. In
this activity, you upload an additional e-mail for one of the person records you created
via upload. The activity is in 3 stages. You:
1. Load the zip file containing the new e-mail (StudentnnUpdate.zip) to the Oracle
WebCenter Content server.
2. Import the zip file to the stage tables.
3. Load the batch extracted from the zip file to the application tables.

Activity 9: Updating Loaded Data
In the first stage of this activity, you deliver the zip file to the Oracle WebCenter Content
server.
1. Navigate to the File Import and Export page (Navigator > Tools > File Import
and Export).
2. Click the Upload icon located in the Search Results section. The Upload File
dialog box appears.
3. Browse to select the file StudentnnUpdate from your desktop folder FBL
Sample Data > Update Data.
4. Select hcm/dataloader/import in the Account field.
5. Click Save and Close. You should see your file in the Search Results section.
6. Select View > Columns > Content ID to include the Content ID column.
Note the value of the Content ID (for example, UCMFA357781).
In the second stage of this activity, you import your data from the Oracle Fusion
WebCenter Content server to the Load Batch Data stage tables.
1. Navigate to the Data Exchange work area (Navigator > Workforce

Management > Data Exchange).
2. In the Tasks pane, select the Load Data for Coexistence task.
3. On the Load Data for Coexistence page, click Import. The Import and Load
Data dialog box appears.
4. Enter the Content ID that you obtained when loading the file to the Oracle
WebCenter Content server using the File Import and Export interface.
5. Select Person to load the Person business object from the zip file.

6. Provide a meaningful batch name, for example, StudentnnUpdate.
Object names are prefixed with the batch name to provide a unique batch name
for each batch. For example, if your file contains the Person object and you
specify the batch name Student01Update, then your batch name is
Student01Update:Person.
7. Set the Loader Run Type parameter to Import and click Submit.

process completes and its status is Succeeded.
12. Click the Download File icon in the Log File column for your file.
13. Click OK. The log file opens in the selected application.
In this activity, the log file shows that you inserted 1 row into the
HRC_LOADER_BATCH_LINES_SRC table and processed 1 object. Review the
file contents and save the file locally if you wish. Close the file.
14. Close the Downloads window.
15. On the Load Data for Coexistence page, click Done.
In third stage of this activity, you load your data from the stage tables to the application
tables.
In the Tasks pane of the Data Exchange work area, select the task Load Batch Data
to open the Load Batch Data page.
1. In the Batch Name field of the Search section, enter your batch name (for
example, Student01Update) and click Search.
2. In the Search Results section, you see the Person batch (for example,
Student02Update:Person) extracted from your zip file and imported to the
stage tables. The status of the batch is New.
3. Select the batch and click Run. The Schedule Request page opens

4. Accept the default values on the Schedule Request page, and click Submit.
6. On the Load Batch Data page in the Search Results section, click Refresh to
update the Batch Status and Process Status values. You may need to click
Refresh more than once until the process completes.
7. When the process completes, the Batch Status value for your Person batch is
Complete with Errors.
8. On the Batch Summary tab in the Details section, review the summary of
successful and failed objects in the batch. Notice that you have 1 Failed Object
and 0 Successful Objects.
9. Click Done.

Activity 10 Introduction: Correcting Load Errors

Activity Scope
You have run Load Batch Data to load an additional e-mail for a worker and a load error
has occurred. As an alternative to correcting the source data and importing it to the
stage tables again, you correct the error in the stage tables, which you access from the
Load Batch Data page. Having corrected the error, you rerun the load process.

Activity 10: Correcting Load Errors
In this activity, you correct load errors in the stage tables.
Start Here
1. In the Tasks pane, select the task Load Batch Data to open the Load Batch
Data page.
2. If your Person batch with the Batch Status value Complete with Errors does
not already appear in the Search Results section of the page, then search for
the batch by entering your batch name (for example, Student01Update) in the
Batch Name field and clicking Search.
3. Select the batch in the Search Results section.
4. On the Batch Summary tab in the Details section of the page, you can see
details of the batch.
5. Click the Failed tab in the Details section to view details of the error. In this
case, the error message is " The from date must be earlier than or equal to the to
date."
6. Click the Batch Summary tab in the Details section.
7. The Failed Objects column on the Batch Summary tab for the parent object
(Person) contains the number 1. Click the number to open the Details page for
the object type.
8. In the Business Objects section on the Details: Person page, expand the
Person object folder.
9. Expand the PersonEmail folder in the Person object folder, and then select the
PersonEmail entry in the folder to view its details in the Details section of the
page.
The Attributes tab in the Details section displays the object attribute values.
In this scenario, the end date of the home e-mail (H1) is earlier than the start
date.

10. Correct the Date To attribute by deleting the date in the New Value column.
11. When you have finished updating the selected object instance, set the Object
Status value for the object in the Business Objects section to Ready to
Process.
12. Click Save and Close.
13. On the Load Batch Data page, find your batch again in the Search Results
section.
14. Select the batch and click Run.
15. On the Schedule Request page, accept the default values and click Submit.
16. On the confirmation message, click OK.
17. On the Load Batch Data page, click Refresh in the Search Results section.
You may need to click Refresh more than once until the process completes.
18. When the Batch Status is Complete, review the contents of the Details section
of the page. Notice that the batch now contains 1 successful object and 0 failed
objects.
