b. Identify the voice of the verb used in each sentences.
c. Change the voice form from active voice to passive voice and vice versa.
d. Appreciate the importance of giving yourself a break.

 Prayer and Checking of Attendance
 REVIEW: Let the students recall their previous lesson about verb.

A. Activity
GUESSING THE KNOWN
The students will be asked to guess the correct name of the movies or TV
series that will be presented by the teacher. But, before answering the students
must say the sentence that will be assigned to them.
Student A: “The name will be guessed by (Student’s Name).”
Student B: “(Student’s Name) will guess the name.”

When the last picture have been figured out the teacher will ask the following
questions to the students.
 What do you feel when you are watch a movie or series or playing games?
 Do you think those activities can help you relax?
 Is it necessary for people to take a break from anything?
B. Analysis
The teacher will go back to the sentences, “The name will be guess by
(Student’s Name).” and “(Student’s Name) will guess the name.” Afterwards, she
will ask the following questions below in order to unpack the main topic about
Active Voice and Passive Voice.
 What have you notice on the two sentences you have used before?
 Do you think the two sentences have the same sentence pattern?
 On the sentence no. 1, where does the doer of the action located?
 On the sentence no. 1, where does the receiver of the action located?
 On the sentence no. 2, where does the doer located?
 On the sentence no. 2, where does the receiver of the action located?
 What do you think our topic will be all about?

C. Abstraction
 The voice of a verb tells whether the subject of the sentence performs or
receives the action. In English there are two voice forms: active and passive.
 In Active Voice, the subject performs the action.
 Jessica wrote a song.
Jessica (subject) is doing the writing (verb).
 Marilyn mailed the letter.
Marilyn (subject) is doing the mailing (verb).
 In Passive Voice, the subject receives the action expressed by the verb.
 A song was written by Jessica.
A song (subject) was written (verb).
 The letter was mailed by Marilyn.
The letter (subject) was being mailed (verb).

D. Application
The class will be divided into five (5) groups, each group will be assigned to
transform the sentence in active voice into passive voice.

F. Assignment
Using both Active and Passive Voice, write five reasons in sentence form
about why taking a break is important. Encircle the verbs in active voice and
underline the verbs in passive voice.
