Reason for refferal:

Ryan took several intelligence and personality tests to assess his intellectual funtioning and personality.

Background Information:

Ryan was born and raised in Manila. His father died when he was 3. According to him, the only thing he
remembers about his father is when he gave him a bicycle on his 3 rd birthday. He also added that he didn’t remember
feeling sad when he died. After 2 years, his mother was married to a new man. He said that it took several years
before he acknowledged him as his new father because he had a hard time accepting that his real father is gone. He
is the eldest and has a brother and had 3 younger step brothers. When he was in kindergarten, Ryan remembers that
he was very active in participating in his class. As he enters Espiritu Santo Parochial School, he had encountered a
lot of fights because most of his classmates and schoolmates thought that he is arrogant but he was the opposite of it.
But despite of this, he had been interested in joining the student council and had been an officer which made him
look more superior. He had many haters but he also had a lot of girls linked to him. He says that it was his looks and
the way he spoke to them that made the girls fell for him. He also developed his interest in the subjects Science,
Math and English in this period. He had been the representative of his section when they had Science quiz bees. He
also had been an honor student when he graduated. When he was in highschool, he was discovered to have a great
skills in speaking. He had been Ramon Magsaysay Highschool’s representative on various oratorical contests. He
still had been a contestant on some Science related contests. He had a lot of guy friends and they tend to spend most
of their free times playing computer games. He still had a lot of girls linked to him and some of them became his
girlfriends. Because of his interest in computer, he decided to take up Computer Science as his course. As he
graduated in highschool, he then passed the test and enrolled in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and took the
course that he liked. In his first year, his blockmates have influenced him to go to bars. He then enjoyed going and it
became addicting to him. He still managed to study well but as the time has gone by, he somewhat realized that he is
more suitable in the Mass Communication course. He said that he did not expect Computer Science would be that
hard. He had failed a subject in his 2 nd year but still manages to be in good standing in his school. He is now in his
3rd year and he hopes that he survives this critical year for all of them. He says that he is now in a stable relationship
and he is very happy about it. As the eldest among his siblings, he is somewhat pressured because he is expected by
his parents to finish college and have a stable work for him to be able to help his parents financially. He hopes for a
bright future for him and for his family.

Behavioral Observations:

Ryan seemed to be concentrating in answering the tests. He was observed making a pause for a while
before he answered each item. He also talked to himself once in a while like he was talking to a friend, asking if he
is like that or like this. He also complained to the examiner on several items to be hard. He may felt concious as he
drew in one of the tests as he claimed that he is not good in drawing. It was showed when he covered his paper when
the examiner tried to watch him draw. Ryan did not mention any discomfortness like feeling hot or being hungry.
The client said after every test that he is a little nervous and asks himself what would the results may be.

Diagnostic Impressions:

A. Cognitive Functioning

Ryan took the Multiple Intelligence Test, SRA, and the Social Intelligence Test. The client scored the
highest in the Interpersonal type which he justified by his claims that he is good at interacting, understanding and
working with others. However, he scored the lowest in the Spatial-Visual type of intelligence. He admitted to the
examiner that he is not artistic and he has a little interest in drawing, painting and other activities related to arts. In
SRA, Ryan got a score of 21 in the verbal category which falls under the scale of average. This may indicate that he
is okay with his vocabulary skills. The client then claimed that he is interested in reading articles and some books
and prefers speaking in English and that he thinks these enhance his vocabulary skills. On the other hand, he got a
score of 20 in the numerical category which falls under the above average scale. He shared to the examiner that he
has the least interest in math but he still knows the basics and he has interest in logic. In the Social Intelligence Test,
he scored 44 and it falls under the scale of average. It may indicate that he is okay in his judgments in social
situations and observations of human behaviour. He claims that he is an observant with what is happening and with
the people that surrounds him. \\\\\\
B. Social – Emotional Functioning

In the House-Tree-Person Test, Ryan drew details that have suggested the following tendencies:
Inaccessibility, missing father, anxiety, better flexibility with the environment, desired to be occupied socially,
sensitivity to criticism, well-balanced physical strength and power, and absence of striving. Inaccessibility can be
supported by the examinee’s statement that most of the people he encounters, they think that he is arrogant by his
looks and he thinks that causes the people to hesitate in approaching him. The statement ‘missing father’ is agreed
by the client. Ryan said that from time to time, he wonders what would be his life with him if he is still alive. Even
though the test suggests that he tends to be anxious, he says that he never feels anxious. Better flexibility with the
environment is supported by his claims that he adjusts well with his surroundings and with the people that he
encounters. The desire to be occupied socially can be supported with the statement he mentioned that he is really
interested in socializing with others and he also said that he used to go to bars with his friends just to meet with new
people. The test also suggests that he is sensitive to criticism but the client claims that he just accepts whatever he
hears from others. Well-balanced physical strength and power can be supported by Ryan’s claims that he is currently
working on with his desired body by doing various exercises and lifting some weights. Absence of striving is
supported by his claims that he does not make an extra effort with his school works and tends to just go with the
flow.

In the Sach’s Sentence Completion Test, the result indicated that Ryan may have mild disturbances with his
attitude towards his father. As he mentioned before, his father, Rodolfo A. Mondero, died because of meningitis
when he was just 3 years old. He said that he misses his father occasionally, especially when he watches a movie and
there is a father-son scene. He added that even though he already has a step father, he does not see him as a father
that he can share his problems with or to talk about girls and other guys’ stuff with, but more like someone who will
just provide and guide. But Ryan said that he already accepted the fact, long time ago, that he is gone and he is just
fine with his life.

In the Emotions Profile Index, Ryan got the highest score in the Gregarious dimension which may indicate
that he tends to be sociable, affectionate, somewhat extravert and enjoys the company of other people. He claims
that the said statements are true. As he has mentioned before he used to go to bars with his friends to have fun. He
also said that he makes efforts for her girlfriend to make her happy. He added that he is that kind of friend who you
can come to when you needed someone to talk to. He received the lowest score in the Depressed dimension which
may indicate that he is satisfied with his style of life. The client claims that he is happy and contented with his life,
with what he has, with his relationships with his parents, friends and girlfriend.

After answering the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the result indicated that Ryan may be warm-hearted,
cooperative, wants harmony in his environment, likes to work with others, wants to be appreciated for who he is and
for what he contributes. He claims the said statements to be true about him. He told the examiner that he tends to
sympathize with the people in need like the beggars he encounters in the jeepneys. He said that he makes sure he
does his part whenever they have groupings at school. He also said that he does not want any imbalance in his
surroundings because it makes him feel uneasy. Ryan also mentioned to the examiner that he is more interested
working with others than doing things by himself. He added that it is very fulfilling for him to be appreciated for
who he is and be acknowledged with the efforts he exerts.

For the Quantitative score of the Hand Test, Ryan saw most of the hands to be expressing pleasure,
affection, or friendly feeling and these refer to the Affection (AFF) category. The result is justified by the client’s
claims of being close to his mother and his girlfriend. He shared to the examiner that he randomly hugs or kisses his
mother whenever he feels like doing them. He also said that he always tell his girlfriend how much he loves and
adores her and do things unexpectedly for her to be surprised. In the Qualitative scoring of the Hand Test, Ryan got
the highest score in the Movement (MOV) category. This may suggest that the client tends to do random and
unproductive activities repetitively. According to him, whenever he gets bored, he just plays computer games, reads
a random article or watches a movie.

Summary:
Based on the results of the tests given to Ryan, they may indicate that he has a very good skill when it
comes to interacting and socializing with people and he may be affectionate with his love ones. He may be flexible
and observant with his environment has wants harmony within it. The results may also indicate that he is satisfied
with the life he has but he seems not to strive hard and tends to do random things instead of being productive.

Reccommendations:

The following can be recommended to the client:

 Ryan may read articles or books more often to improve his verbal or vocabulary skill.

 It is suggested for Ryan to set goals to help him strive hard.

 He may improve his relationship to his step father by starting to try talking to him so he can experience
some father-son bonding.

 Ryan may use his free time doing productive things like helping his mother with the household chores.

 It is suggested for him to continue being affectionate to his love ones to maintain a harmonious relationship
with them.

 He may practice drawing some basic figures for him to improve his drawing skills.

 Ryan may pay more attention to his surroundings to improve his judgments in social situations and
observations of human behaviour.
