2090 Feedback Cables

Dear Rockwell Automation Customer:

The purpose of this Product Service Advisory (PSA) is to inform you of a potential issue
identified in the 2090 Feedback Cables. This notice describes the potential issue, identifies the
impacted cables and communicates the corrective action.

Problem Description

An issue has been identified in the 2090 Feedback Cables, which may have the potential to cause
feedback related drive faults. In a small percentage of the population the mechanical connection
of the braided shield on the motor end connector may not be properly bonded. These cables may
exhibit a higher than normal resistance level, or a resistance that varies when the cable moves at
the connector end.
PRODUCT ADVISORY

Product Identification

The PSA applies to 2090 Feedback Cables with date codes prior to 02/19/2004 that are used with
MPL, H, F and N series motors. Ship dates of this product were January 1, 2000 through
February 19, 2004. The PSA does not include power or brake cables, or any cable that does not
begin with Catalog Number: 2090

Date Codes:
Date Codes prior to 2/19/04 are included in PSA #. The date code is affixed on the cable (Figure
2). The product packaging references the date code (Figure 1). Catalog Number and Date Code
Listed on label applied to cable.

Problem Correction

Rockwell Automation has verified the issue has been corrected on the 2090 Feedback Cables
manufactured after 02/19/2004.
