Valley High School star outside
hitter who led Grand Canyon
(Ariz.) University in kills last
season, is not on this year’s
Lady Lopes’ roster.
It’s because she transferred
to Arizona State, where she’s
second on the Sun Devils in
kills. Arizona State finished 10-
22 overall last season, going 0-
20 in Pac-12 Conference play.
Heading into last weekend’s
play, Arizona State was 8-2.

win at Syracuse last season.
Kovensky came up with 10
kills in 16 of the Lopes’ 25
matches, hitting a season-high
19 on two occasions. Grand
Canyon was 8-18 overall last
season, finishing 3-11 in confer-
ence play.
