Pastor’s Notes
MY CUP RUNNETH
OVER!!!!! As I write this,
I’ve returned home from the
Sunday night Baptism and Communion
Service. My how the Lord blessed us. I lost
track of how many were baptized so I
brought home the DVD and watched it so I
could count. The total number was 29.
There were 20 children, 3 teens and 6 adults. During the Communion service, 2
people committed their lives to Christ and one was restored! That means that we have
people saved the last 4 or 5 Sunday’s in a row. GOD IS GOOD!!!!!

We had an awesome crowd at church tonight too! Many visitors came to support their
family members who were baptized. God is truly up to something. Keep praying and
believing and I know that God will continue to show Himself to us and our church will
continue to grow and become all that God wants us to be.

I am particularly thankful for what God is doing among our children. Since Donna &
Garren have become our Children’s Ministers, the Lord has blessed the ministry greatly.
There has seen growth in the Sunday Morning Attendance but most importantly, children
are finding Christ as Savior. The number baptized Sunday night shows that. We are so
blessed to have Donna and Garren serving in this capacity . Be sure and look at the
bulletin board close to the women’s restroom. They have put new pictures up along with
a picture of their new Ministry Logo. I’ve put a few pictures here so you could see what
to look for….
This coming Sunday Morning is going to be a great day! We will be having a Children’s
service. The first part of the service will be like usual…praise & worship and choir
singing, but everything else will be led by the Children. They will be doing the
devotions, prayer, special music, helping receive the offering….and the ministry time will
be done just like they are used to. It’s going to be GREAT! I hope we fill the building
with mom’s and dad’s, grandmothers and grandfathers, aunts and uncles, friends and
neighbors. It will be great for the children and for us.

Sunday will also be Pink Sunday. Special attention will be

given to those who have been touched by Breast Cancer or
families that have been touched. Special information will be
made available to our ladies present as well as a token gift to
all ladies over the age of 18.

On behalf of the staff members and our wives, I’d like to say a great big “thank you” to
Sis Judy Hayes and all her staff of help that put on and provided the meal on Sunday
afternoon. We were so honored to have you take the time to stay for lunch, to prepare the
lunch and for all the workers who set up tables and chairs. Everything was so nice and
we were treated wonderfully. Lisa and I count it an absolute joy to serve the great Church
of God in Woodruff and labor among the finest people you’ll find anywhere. We are
also blessed to have GREAT staff. I’d personally like to thank Ryan Ballard and his
wife Carrie. Ryan serves as our Church Treasurer and is so supportive and eager to see
the church move forward. Jason & Stephanie Fowler are doing an excellent job as our
Student Pastor, Young Adults and recently added Christian Education to his portfolio.
They are so easy to work with and have a heart for ministry and the people of God.
Buster & Betty Ball have served us for many years and do a tremendous job. Buster
serves as Outreach and Visitation and never misses a chance to talk to anyone about the
Lord or invite them to our church. Betty recently began to serve as the director of the
Kidz Kafe and serves 50 to 70 children on Sunday’s and Wednesday’s. Todd & Vickie
Porter continue to raise the bar of excellence in the Music Ministry by providing anointed
music. Their sensitivity to the Spirit and love for God drive them in every endeavor.
Last, but not least, Donna & Garren Burdette…are our newest staff members. Their title
has changed, but their love for children and their desire for excellence cannot be matched.
Woodruff Church of God is blessed to have the finest staff you could find anywhere. I
AM BLESSED TO WORK ALONG SIDE THEM!!!!!!!
If you did not have an opportunity to speak a word to them or to give them a card, please
do so. You will never know how much the words of encouragement mean. We always
hear the negative things, but it blesses us to hear the positive things and the areas where
we are making a difference.
Our church will be manning the Community Closet, located at Grace Methodist Church
during the month of November. Volunteers are needed each
Saturday to work between 9-1. See Alysia Hayes to
volunteer or sign up on the bulletin board in the hall. YOU
ARE NEEDED!!!!!

We aren’t promoting
“Halloween”. We are for the
safety of our Children and we love
the opportunity for fellowship.
Free hotdogs for everyone and
free candy give away for the kids.
Let’s show the LOVE OF
JESUS!!!!!!!

OUR FALLFEST WEEKEND TOTAL: $6744.75

That amount goes to our building fund as a result of all the hard work and
activities of the FallFest weekend!

Special thanks to the Willard Patterson Sunday School Class who raised over $2200!
Also, a “thank you” goes to all the Sunday School Classes and Ministries that participated
in our “Themed Baskets” this year. That project raised over $1300. It enabled us to have
more of our whole church involved.

One more time, let me say thank you to everyone who worked at our FallFest. We have a
tireless group who willingly give of their time and energies to see our church move
forward for the glory of God. YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!
Past Due Bills

During the days of the California Gold Rush, a certain prospector went to purchase some
mining supplies. The prospector knew he did not have any money to purchase the
supplies, but entered the store anyway. He selected the items he needed and walked
toward the front of the store to check out. When the store owner asked how he was going
to pay for the items, the prospector said with a smile, “Just put these items on account,
on account of I ain’t got no money.”

“The more things change, the more some things stay the same.” Yes, there have been
many advancements in our society since the Gold Rush days. On the other hand, when
you talk about money, there are still many people who struggle to make ends meet.

For those who may wonder why it is important to give, the Bible is very clear. “There is
one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right,
but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also
be watered himself” (Prov. 11:24,25).
