Remember:

The 24-hour clock.
When we tell time we use a.m. for time between 12 midnight and 12 noon, and p.m. for time
between 12 noon and 12 midnight.
Sometimes when travelling one can be unaware if it a.m. or p.m.. Threfore many airports and
train stations use a 24 hour clock to state the time.

(5) The school play took 1 hour and 20 minutes. It finished at 7:25 p.m. What time did it
start?

(6) A ship sailed from one port to another. The ship started at 10:00 a.m. and ended the
journey at 8:35 p.m. How long did the journey take?

(7) Peter left home with his grandparents at 09:50 to go into town. They got to town 1 hour
and 5 minutes later. What time did they get into town?

(8) A cyclist started a journey at 9:25 a.m. She rode for 2 hours and 20 minutes and rested for
quarter of an hour and then rode for another 3 hours. At what time did she reach her
destination?

(9) A clock gains 10 seconds every hour. If it is put right at 4 p.m. on Sunday, what time will
it be showing the following Monday when the correct time is 10 p.m.

(10) A motor rally began at 2100 hours on Friday and ended at 1345 hours the following day.
