Week 4

08 BB W4 Motor Exercise 05, D. Szemkus/H. Winkler Page 1/9

Assignment
• A customer needs a new electric circuit to drive
electrical motors. It has been decided to buy this
assembly from a subcontractor.
• Apply the appropriate Six Sigma tools to develop a
circuit that controls the motor speed (rpm).
• Your goal is to design a circuit that produces a
propeller rpm that meets the following customer
requirements:
• Constant rpm → minimized variation
• Slow rpm → the slower the better
• You have a customer meeting to present your results in
a power point presentation. The customer will than
decide which subcontractor get the contract.
• The meeting is scheduled for Friday at 10:00 o’clock.

Answer the Following at the Meeting

• What specification to you offer to your customer?

• Which supplier you selected for each subassembly?
• What is the reason for your decision?
• What specification did you agree with your suppliers?
• What tools did you use?
• What is the effect for of each subassembly on the speed mean
(rpm) and the variation?
• What are your possibilities if the customer is not satisfied with the
specification your offered?
• List any important assumptions.

If you get the contract your are in the position to deliver your
new application which may result in additional business.
All your Black Belts are present and reports!
