GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING CENTER

NARRATIVE REPORT

SUBJECT : Tampering of school records, forms and documents / Forgery

PERSONS INVOLVED : Carlos Acuña and CJ Guevarra, Grade 11 – Block 2 – ABM
DATE : February 11, 2019

On January 22, 2019, Tuesday, Mr. Rogelio Guevarra together with her daughter CJ Guevarra, a Grade 11
ABM student, went to the Guidance and Counseling Center to inform the Guidance Counselor that CJ is no
longer staying with her mother, Maricel Guevarra, because of family issues particularly financial issues. He
declared that his brother, Dave Guevarra, will take care of CJ and stand as her legal guardian from then. The
father stated that anything concerning CJ must be known by his uncle. He also stated that he is not allowing
CJ to see and even talk to her mother and it was confirmed by the child.

After few days, February 4, 2019, the Counselor was called by Miss Veronica Arquero, SHS Assistant
Principal, and stated that CJ’s mother was in the Clinic / Guidance Office with Mrs. Marlyn Alibarbar and she
was requesting if she could see and talk to her child. The counselor at first talk to CJ and asked if she wanted
to see and talk to her mother. But CJ refused and even stated that she was afraid of her mother. The
counselor never insisted and went to the clinic and informed the mother about CJ’s rejection to talk to her.
The mother told the counselor and Mrs. Alibarbar the reasons behind. She even told us that CJ was telling
lies about not giving her allowances and money for her tuition. She even told us that CJ was showing and
giving receipts of payment coming from the school and so we asked her to show and prove to us that CJ was
really giving the receipts. The mother assured us that she will be coming again by Wednesday to show all
the receipts. Before she went home, we asked the treasurer to give us a copy of the payments the CJ has
paid the whole semester. It was indicated there that there were only four (4) payments. After talking to the
mother, the counselor went again to CJ and asked about the school tuition that she has paid. She confirmed
that she was the one paying her tuition and gave all the receipts to her mother.

On February 6, 2019 the mother returned with all the receipts and with all our surprised all are FAKE receipts.
The mother then cried and asking herself how her child did those things. She was so disappointed with her
child and even mad. The counselor and Principal, Dr. Evelyn B. Nuesca, said that the offense CJ did was
classified as FORGERY and the sanction is immediate dropping or expulsion. The principal asked the mother
is she wanted to give the sanction to her child. As a mother who just wanted her child to have education, the
mother was begging to let her child finish the semester and just give her the sanction after. The principal just
answered that we still have to communicate the issue to the School President, Mr. Joseph J. Tabirara, since
the offense was using the name of the school for their personal interest. That day Cj was absent and so the
counselor was not able to talk to her.

The following day, February 7, 2019, CJ arrived and the counselor immediately called her and tackled the
issue at the clinic / guidance office for confidentiality. CJ admitted everything she did. She commenced that
she only did those things because she wanted to pay her debt at the Lyceum where she took her Grade 11
last 2017 – 2018. She needed to pay her debt just to enroll at St. Benilde. She borrowed money from her
boyfriend’s, Carlos Acuña, mother amounting to Php10, 000. And because her allowance is not enough to
pay Carlos’ mother, she decided to use the tuition that her mother was giving her. And from there, she made
fake receipts to show her mother that she paid her tuition. She pointed out that Carlos helped her in doing
those fake receipts from editing up to the signature.

In the afternoon, we asked the presence of CJ and her mother, Carlos and his mother, together with Dr.
Nuesca, Mrs. Alibarbar and the guidance counselor. We were not able to ask the presence of CJ’s legal
guardian, Dave Guevarra, because he was in Cavite for the wake of his relative. During the conversation, it
was all cleared that personal intentions were made by CJ and Carlos. They asked apology from their parents
as well as from us. Dr. Nuesca repeated what he has told to the mother of CJ that we still have to
communicate the issue to the School President since the offense was using the name of the school for their
personal interest. CJ’s mother requested the counselor to tell CJ’s father about what we have talked just to
clear her name to the father and counselor guaranteed the mother about it.

Early of February 8, 2019, the counselor messaged the father and by chance the father replied and even
asked to have a video chat. He was disappointed of her child, CJ. I sent him the fake receipts and of his
doubt he also sent me a receipt that CJ sent him. And I confirmed that the receipt CJ sent him was valid and
true. The father assured me that he will talk to his child and settle their problem.

RECOMMENDATION

As for our recommendation, we (Dr. Nuesca, Mrs. Alibarbar and the counselor) decided to ask the students
(CJ and Carlos) to write a written statement of everything they did. We cannot decide of the sanction to be
given to them. We will wait for the President (Mr. Tabirara) to give his final say/words about the issue.
