Sample size
1. Below, put what you planned for sample size and/or repeated measures (#9 in experimental proposal).
I planned to have a sample size of 8+ people.
2. Below, put the actual sample size and/or repeated measures you completed by the deadline (February
5).
By Wednesday I will have a sample size of 4 and I have two people who might be able to do it later than
Wednesday. As of February 5th, I have a sample size of one.
3. If there are differences between your initial plan and what you completed by the deadline, explain
a) why they are different, and
I was going to build a solitary cell but I decided to paint a room and use it instead. I also had to adjust the
time to 1 hour instead of 2 just because it was going to be to hard to get people to be able to stay for that
long and be able to do all the necessary tests.
b) what you could have done differently to reach your goal on time.
I should have started recruiting people and testing much earlier than I did. I just needed to block out time
to test and approach people earlier.
Procedure
4. Below, paste a copy of your planned steps from your project proposal (#15).
1. Building procedure. I will be building two walls to place in a corner to create the “cell” I will be using to test
subjects. The cell will be 8 feet by 10 feet and all white. The materials I will be using can be seen above. A
link of some preliminary draftings will be attached below. As I meet wit Ms. Whalen this week I will have
more information and more accurate draftings of what the “cell” will look like. I will update the documate
as I have more information

2. Testing procedure. I will be testing as many people as possible for 2 hours each. Before and after I will take
subjects vitals (blood pressure, pulse, heart rate, etc.) and a mental wellness assessment. The assessment is
based off of trauma and mindfulness assessments and questionnaires. However, the questions are all still
created by me. Each answer will be assigned positive or negative points and will be tallied for a complete
and general mental wellness assessment. For both assessments, the data will reflect the change between
before and after being in solitary. Below is a link to a form with all of the questions I will be asking subjects
to answer.

prefill
5. Carefully look over your initial plans. In a numbered or bullet-pointed list below,
a) identify in detail things you actually did differently, and
1. I didn’t even build the solitary cell
2. I didn’t test for 2 hour, I tested for 1 hour
3. Each answer is assigned zero or positive points rather than negative points as well
b) explain why you made each change.
1. I changed it to the room in my house because it was the only way I was going to be able to start
testing in a timely manner
2. I also chenged the testing time so more people would be able and willing to do the experiment and
so that I could do more people in a timely manner
3. I forgot that I had decided on a points system so I just made a new one when assessing Subject 1’s
answers
Variables
6. In your proposal, find your standardized (#8) and extraneous variables (#10) and list them in the table
below.
Standardized variables Extraneous variables
Impact on Results
9. Think about all the ways the implementation of your experiment differed from your initial plans (your
answers to questions above).
Discuss how these changes may make your project stronger and/or make it weaker (i.e. make your
results more reliable or less reliable).
Because I didn’t built the box there is shelving in the “cell” which is bad because obviously there isn’t
industrial shelving in normal solitary. Because the time of day wasn’t standardized peoples’ energy level
could affect what they do and how they feel.
Reflection on learning
In August, y’all shared your thoughts on what the point of school is. Many of your responses involved
building skills. You may recognize some of them in this list below, which has a few of my top priorities for
skills to build in this class.
10. Read over the skills and indicate with a comment where you feel you are with each, at this point in the
year.
I think I have I’m making progress. I’m struggling: I see This is a very weak
very strong I feel pretty good some improvement area for me. I don’t feel
skills in this about it. but it’s really hard. I’ve improved at all.
