7. Answers without relevant diagram / figure / circuit wherever necessary will not carry any
marks.

8. Numerical problems solved without writing the relevant formulae carry no marks.

9. Use of calculators is prohibited

10. There is no overall choice.

11. No clarification will be entertained during the examination. Doubts in the paper can be
reported to the coordinator after the exam

Answer all the questions. Each correct answer carries 1 mark. 4x1=4
1. A letter of English alphabet is chosen at random. Determine the probability that the chosen letter is a
consonant.

2. The length of the shadow of a tower on the plane ground is 3 times the height of the tower. Find
the angle of elevation of the sun at that time.

3. Find the perimeter of the triangle formed by points  0,0  , 1,0  and  0,1 .

4. The king, queen and jack of clubs are removed from a pack of 52 playing cards. From the remaining
one card is selected at random. Find the probability of getting a king.

Section – B
Answer all the questions. Each correct answer carries 2 marks. 6 x 2 = 12
5. A two digit number is four times the sum of the digits. It is also equal to 3 times the product of digits.
Find the number.

10. In an AP, if S5  S7  167 and S10  235 , then find the AP, where S n denotes the sum of its first n

terms.

11. Divide 56 in four parts in AP such that the ratio of the product of their extremes (1 st and 4th ) to the
product of means (2nd and 3rd ) is 5 : 6
12. Two years ago a man’s age was three times the square of his son’s age. Three years hence his age will
be four times his son’s age. Find their present ages.
13. In figure, O is the centre of a circle such that diameter AB  13 cm and
AC  12 cm. BC is joined. Find the area of the shaded region. (Take
  3.14 )

14. A sphere of diameter 12 cm, is dropped in a right circular cylindrical vessel, partly filled with water.
If the sphere is completely submerged in water, the water level in the cylindrical vessel rises by 359
cm. Find the diameter of the cylindrical vessel.

not buy shirts with major defects. A shirt is taken out of the box at random. What is the probability
that
(i) Ramesh will buy the selected shirt?
(ii) 'Kewal' will buy the selected shirt?

18. If S n , denotes the sum of first n terms of an A.P., prove that S12  3  S8  S4 

19. Due to sudden floods, some welfare associations jointly requested the government to get 100 tents
fixed immediately and offered to contribute 50% of the cost. If the lower part of each tent is of the
form of a cylinder of diameter 4.2 m and height 4 m with the conical upper part of same diameter but
of height 2.8 m, and the canvas to be used costs ₹ 100 per Sq. m, find the amount, the associations will

20. A solid wooden toy is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a cone of same radius. The radius

of hemisphere is 3.5 cm and the total wood used in the making of toy is 166 cm2 . Find the height of

21. Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.
22. Water is flowing at the rate of 2.52 km/h through a cylindrical pipe into a cylindrical tank, the radius
of whose base is 40 cm, If the increase in the level of water in the tank, in half an hour is 3.15 m, find
the internal diameter of the pipe.
23. A number x is selected at random from the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4. Another number y is selected at

random from the numbers 1, 4, 9 and 16. Find the probability that product of x and y is less than 16.

24. A bird is sitting on the top of a 80 m high tree. From a point on the ground, the angle of elevation of
the bird is 45 . The bird flies away horizontally in such a way that is remained at a constant height
from the ground. After 2 seconds, the angle of elevation of the bird from the same point is 30 . Find

the speed of flying of the bird. (Take 3  1.732 )


25. Find the distance between the points which divide internally and externally the line segment from

8, 5 to  3,5  in the ratio 3 : 2 .

26. Draw a circle of radius 3.5cm . Construct two tangents without using the centre on any point on the

circle.

29. A farmer connects a pipe of internal diameter 20 cm from a canal into a cylindrical tank in his field,
which is 10 m in diameter and 2 m deep. If water flows through the pipe at the rate of 3 km/h, in
how much time will the tank be filled?

30. In figure, PQRS is a square lawn with side PQ  42 metres. Two circular

flower beds are there on the sides PS and QR with centre at O, the

intersection of its diagonals. Find the total area of the two flower beds
(shaded parts).

31. If A  4, 8 , B  3,  4  , C  0,  5 and D  5, 6  are the vertices of a quadrilateral ABCD , find its area.
