1. Tips for Fundraising on GlobalGiving
Congratulations! You have completed GlobalGiving’s rigorous application process
and we’re excited to welcome you the GlobalGiving community. So, what’s next?
What can your organization do to build and expand its online fundraising through
GlobalGiving? Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

□ Develop a long-term fundraising strategy. Make GlobalGiving a part of your

overall fundraising strategy. Set realistic goals for how much you would like to
raise, how many new donors you would like to attract, and the volume of
donations you would like to receive. Then, create a plan for achieving those
objectives!

□ Use your GlobalGiving widget to add the “Give

Now” button to your organization’s website or
blog. Make it easy for your donors to give to your
organization through your website using
GlobalGiving’s widget. You can find the code for
your project widget on your project page by
clicking on the link “Put a widget or give now
button on your website or blog” at the bottom
right hand corner of your project page.

□ Promote your project page. Use Facebook,

Twitter, and other social media tools to actively
promote your project page. Include the link in
your newsletters and at the bottom of your signature. Make sure that every
message you send makes it easy for your donors to donate to you through
GlobalGiving.

□ Participate in GlobalGiving campaigns. Take advantage of GlobalGiving’s

fundraising campaigns—matching days, photo competitions, etc.— to reach
out to your donors and create a sense of urgency. Keep an eye out for
campaign announcements in the project leader newsletter and on the Tools &
Training Blog (http://tools.blog.globalgiving.org/).

3|Page
□ Thank your donors! Send personalized emails from the Donation Manager in
the project entry system (PE). Just waive your cursor over the donor’s email
address and you’ll see the option “Send a Thank You.”

□ Keep your donors engaged. Send frequent project reports, encourage donors
to follow you on Facebook and Twitter, and keep them updated about your
organization. Don’t just ask your supporters for money, keep them excited
about the work that your organization is doing!

□ Encourage your donors to make recurring donations. Did you know that your
donors can set up an automatic donation to your project every month? It’s an
easy way for them to frequently give to your project. Remember to tell donors
about this option in your thank you emails! Learn more about recurring
donation options: http://www.globalgiving.org/faq/recurring.html.

□ Tell your donors about GlobalGiving’s tribute cards, gift cards, donor
registries, and fundraisers. Encourage your donors to make a donation in
honor of a friend or family member for holidays, birthdays, and special
occasions! Check out GlobalGiving’s donor tools here:
http://www.globalgiving.org/givingtools/.

□ Extend your network by hosting volunteers. GlobalGiving partners with

numerous volunteer organizations to help connect your organization with
volunteers. Use this online form to complete a volunteer request:
https://surveyglobalgiving.wufoo.com/forms/volunteer-request/.

□ Check out the Tools & Training Blog! We want to provide your organization
with up-to-date information about online fundraising, GlobalGiving campaigns,
and external opportunities. Visit the Tools & Training Blog
(http://tools.blog.globalgiving.org/) to read past posts and subscribe to receive
email updates.

2. Projects
Organizations that have succeeded in the Open Challenge or that have joined the
site through a sponsor are welcome to submit numerous projects through
GlobalGiving. Remember that organizations must post separate project reports
for every project on GlobalGiving’s site. There is no limit to how many projects
you can post; however GlobalGiving encourages you to post no more than five.
We also recommend that you wait until you are comfortable updating and
promoting your project and have begun to foster relationships with your donors
before posting several projects.

How do I post a new project?

For more information about how to post a new project, see section 5, Navigating
Project Entry (PE) or visit http://help.globalgiving.org/buckets/870/lessons/11707.

What makes a great project page?

1. Make the project title clear, concise, and descriptive
2. Tell donors how they can help
3. Have a clear, concise summary of your project
4. Make sure your project description is easy to understand
5. Include a range of donation options, for example $20 to $250

5|Page
6. Post an achievable and reasonable funding goal

For more tips about posting a great project, check out

http://www.globalgiving.org/project-posting/.

Is there a limit to how much money I can request?

Yes, projects may not request more than $1 million on GlobalGiving's site.
However, any project budget larger than $100,000 will be asked to provide
extremely detailed budgetary information and will require approval from
GlobalGiving.

We highly recommend that you do not set large fundraising goals. We prefer that
projects request small budgets (e.g. $10,000 - $50,000). We have found that
donors respond to small, manageable funding goals. Also, it is to your advantage
to post a smaller budget. Twenty percent of your project's ranking is determined
by how close your project is to its fundraising goal. See section 3, How to Improve
Project Visibility, for more information about project ranking.

Can I change or add a project leader on my project

page?
You can easily change the project leader for each
project using the “Project Leader” drop down menu
under the “People & Organization” tab in the project
entry system (PE).

If you would like to add a new project leader, please

send an email to projecthelp@globalgiving.org with the project leader’s name,
email address, and title.

How long can projects remain on the website?

Projects can remain on globalgiving.org until they are fully funded as long as
project reports are submitted every three months and the necessary due
diligence documentation is resubmitted every two years. See section 6,
GlobalGiving Compliance Policies, for more information.

Will my project be fully funded?

Numerous projects have been fully funded on GlobalGiving's site. However,
GlobalGiving does not guarantee that your project will be funded. GlobalGiving is

6|Page
a marketplace through which donors connect with projects about which they are
passionate. Therefore, it is important to do all you can to make your project
pro grab
the attention of potential donors and that you proactively reach out to your own
networks and encourage your friends, family, and supporters to give to your
project. Learn more about conducting outreach with GlobalGiving’s fundraising
tools in section 1, Tips for Fundraising on GlobalGiving.

What does it mean if my project says ““funded”?

Your project will be labeled as ““funded”” and can no longer receive donations if:
1. Your organization did not meet the fundraising thresholds in an Open
Challenge; or
2. Iff your project has reached its funding goal.

1. A project report has not been submitted in three months;
2. If your
our organization has not updated its due diligence docdocumentation
umentation in
more than 2 years; or
3. If your organization did not meet the fundraising thresholds in an Open
Challenge.
For more information, please contact projecthelp@globalgiving.org..

Can I post a project report for a ““funded” or “retired” project?

them know about your new project!
2. If your organization did not meet the fundraising thresholds in an Open
Challenge: Unfortunately, your project is not eligible to be reactivated.
However, you are eligible to post a new project and participate in another
GlobalGiving Open Challenge. For more information about the next Open
Challenge, email Manmeet Mehta at mmehta@globalgiving.org.

If my project is marked “retired”, can I reactive it?

In most cases, projects are eligible to be reactivated.
1. If your project has been deactivated because your organization has not
submitted quarterly project reports: Your organization can reactive your
project by submitting a project report through the project entry system
(PE). For more information about how to post a project report, please see
Navigating Project Entry (PE).

2. If your organization did not meet the fundraising thresholds in an Open

Challenge: Unfortunately, your project is not eligible to be reactivated.

GlobalGiving Open Challenge. For more information about the next Open
Challenge, email Manmeet Mehta at mmehta@globalgiving.org.

3. Your organization has not updated its due diligence documentation in

more than 2 years: Your organization is eligible to reactivate its project(s)
by completing the due diligence renewal process. See Due Diligence
Renewal to learn more about the renewal process.
For more information, please contact projecthelp@globalgiving.org.

How do I deactivate my project?

If you are interested in deactivating your project, please send a short email with
your project ID number and the reason for the project’s deactivation to
projecthelp@globalgiving.org. A member of the GlobalGiving team will mark your
project as “retired” or “funded” and follow up with you.

3. How to Improve Project Visibility
Here are some simple suggestions for improving your project’s visibility on
GlobalGiving’s site and optimizing the likelihood of receiving donations.

3. 1 Improve your project ranking

Did you know that GlobalGiving ranks its projects? GlobalGiving uses its project
ranking system to determine the order in which projects are listed under each
project category (e.g. Health, Microfinance, etc.) and country on our site. For
example, if you have a health project in Africa, your project may be ranked third
in all projects in Africa but fifth under all health related projects. This ranking is
based on the following criteria:

• 40% the amount of time since your previous project report

• 20% the number of donors that your project has attracted
• 20% the amount of money your project has raised, relative to other
projects
• 20% how close is the project to being fully funded

Your ranking affects your visibility on the site, and, to an extent, the likelihood of
a donor donating to your project! So, become a high ranking project on
GlobalGiving’s site.

□ Post frequent project reports. GlobalGiving requires that projects post project
reports at least every 3 months. But, by posting more frequent project reports,
your organization can improve its visibility on the site.

□ Be an active fundraiser and encourage your supporters and donors to donate

to your GlobalGiving project. By attracting more donors to your project, you
will improve your project’s ranking.

□ Maintain small, manageable fundraising goals. 20% of your project’s rank is

determined by how close your project is to its fundraising goal. By keeping
small goals, such as $5,000, $7,000, or $10,000, and keeping up the fundraising
efforts, your project will continue to be highly ranked.

9|Page
3. 2 Have your project featured on the homepage
Every day GlobalGiving features high-ranking projects on its homepage that have
high-resolution photos!

□ Upload high-resolution photos. Upload a photo with dimensions of at least

1,024 x 768 pixels. The larger the photo, the higher the resolution. Make sure
your photos are vibrant and engaging! This compels donors to click on the
picture and find out more about our project. Learn how to upload a photo
here: http://help.globalgiving.org/buckets/870/lessons/13645.
Find tips for posting great photos under the “How to post a project” guide:
http://www.globalgiving.org/project-posting/.

3.3. Post a project on GlobalGiving UK

Did you know that GlobalGiving has a UK site, www.globalgiving.co.uk? All
donations made through the GlobalGiving UK site by United Kingdom citizens are
eligible to receive a 28% match from the UK government! You too can benefit by
having your project posted on GlobalGiving UK.

□ Send an email to projecthelp@globalgiving.org and let us know that you are

interested in having your project posted on GlobalGiving UK. It’s that simple!
Once your project is posted on GlobalGiving UK’s site, be sure to let your
networks in the UK know that they can now have their donations matched
through the GlobalGiving UK site.

4. Project Reports
GlobalGiving requires that organizations post project reports for each of their
projects every three months to remain on the site. Those organizations that do
not comply will be first warned and subsequently retired from the site.

GlobalGiving promises donors direct communication from project leaders so they

can see how their donations are making a difference. Project reports are critical
to establishing long-term relationships with donors on GlobalGiving’s platform.

For more information about how to post a project report see section 5,
Navigating Project Entry (PE), or visit
http://help.globalgiving.org/buckets/870/lessons/11826.

What should I include in my project report?

Provide donors with a brief summary of your activities since the last report. Tell a
story about a beneficiary or provide details about how many individuals have
been helped. Be sure to mention the specific project for which the report is being
written and be honest about what your organization has accomplished!
It is important to include photos in your project report. This helps donors see for
themselves how their money is having an impact.

How long should I make my project report?

Project reports should be about two to three
paragraphs in length. Be concise and yet specific.
Donors like to get straight to the point about
how their money is having an impact!

Where does my project report go?

Once you submit your project report a member
of the GlobalGiving team will review it.
Approved project reports are then queued to be
sent out to the donors of that project for the
following day. Project reports are sent directly to
your donors via email. See example on the right.
In addition, project reports are posted on your
project page under the tab marked “reports”.

6. GlobalGiving Compliance Policies

In order to remain active on GlobalGiving’s site, organizations must:
1. Submit project reports at least every three months (see Project Reports to
learn more); and
2. Renew their Due Diligence documents every two years (see Due Diligence
Renewal to learn more).

Organizations that do not comply with these policies will first be warned and then

submitted or Due Diligence renewal has been approved.

GlobalGiving partner organizations are also expected to adhere to GlobalGiving’s

Non-Discrimination Policy, Anti-Terror Certificate, and Terms and Conditions,
each of which organizations must sign during the due diligence process.

16 | P a g e
7. Due Diligence R
Renewal
As part of its compliance policies, GlobalGiving requires that organizations renew
their due diligence documents every two years. This allows GlobalGiving to verify
the organization’s activities, confirm the organization’s legitimacy, and review the
th
use of GlobalGiving’s funds.

Organizations must complete the renewal process to continue receiving funds

raised on GlobalGiving’s site.

Your organization will receive an email from GlobalGiving with instructions on the
due diligence renewal process aapproximately

8. GlobalGiving Terms and Conditions

1. Fees - There is no set-up fee or monthly fee to post your project on
GlobalGiving.org. GlobalGiving retains a flat 15% fee from each donation
received online or by check to support organizations in their fundraising
efforts. The donor has the option of making a separate 15% donation to the
GlobalGiving so that 100% of the donation amount will be granted to your
charity.
2. Disbursement - Approximately monthly, GlobalGiving will forward funds to
your organization. For international wire transfers, GlobalGiving does not
disburse less than $250. GlobalGiving will provide the amount to be
allocated to each project you have posted at GlobalGiving.org.
3. Use of Funds and Duration of Project on GlobalGiving.org - You commit
that funds disbursed for projects will be used only for activities described
on the corresponding project page at GlobalGiving.org and any of its sister
sites. Projects that continue to receive donations, but have not reached
100% of total funds requested, will remain on GlobalGiving.org until
completely funded, and you may request that a project be deactivated at
any time. Projects receiving no donations after one year or failing to report
for two consecutive quarters will be marked as 'retired' and removed from
the site.
4. Multiple Projects - Once you have been approved, you may post multiple
projects to the website.
5. Copyright - GlobalGiving shares the copyright with you to the project
content and other media (pictures, video, etc.) uploaded to
GlobalGiving.org and will attribute content used to your organization.
6. Use of Logo and Name - GlobalGiving may use your name and/or your logo

you have posted on GlobalGiving.org. GlobalGiving will display updates on
your project page and will e-mail them to donors.
8. Donor Privacy - GlobalGiving will forward name and e-mail information for

forward this information. Address is not available. You commit to not
redistribute to any third party the donor information you receive from
GlobalGiving.

and conditions and will notify signatory within 30 days of such changes. I have
read, understand, and agree to comply with the above GlobalGiving Community
Terms and Conditions.

9. Anti-Terror Certificate
I certify that the organization named in this application is in compliance with all
statutes, Executive orders, and regulations restricting or prohibiting U.S. persons
from engaging in transactions and dealings with countries, entities, or individuals
subject to economic sanctions administered by the U.S. Department of the
Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control. The organization named in this
application is aware that a list of countries subject to such sanctions, a list of
Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons subject to such sanctions, and
overviews and guidelines for each such sanctions program can be found at
http://www.treas.gov/ofac. Should any change in circumstances pertaining to this
certification occur at any time, the organization will notify GlobalGiving
immediately.

10. Non-Discrimination Policy
ORGANIZATION does not discriminate in its recipients of services on the basis of a
person's race, political orientation, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age,
national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, marital status, veteran status, or mental or
physical disability or any other status prohibited by applicable law.

GlobalGiving will not support any program which requires exposure, adherence
to, or conversion to any religious doctrine in order to be a beneficiary of the
program.

To clarify, a direct service program run by a faith-based organization may be

eligible, provided that the program's beneficiaries are not encouraged or required
to learn about, adhere to, or convert to that organization's religious doctrine as a
condition of receiving service from the program.

11. Disbursements and Donor Reports

GlobalGiving disburses funds raised at the end of every month. International
organizations receive funds via wire; whereas U.S. based organizations receive
funds by check or ACH. U.S. based organizations will have expressed their
preference on the Disbursement Form during the due diligence process.

Disbursements are only sent to international organizations once $250 or more

has been raised. U.S. based organizations are sent disbursements monthly
regardless of the amount.

Disbursements are accompanied by a Disbursement Report which provides a

complete list of all donations made during the disbursement period, including the
name (unless anonymous), email address, and donation amount. The report also
provides information about GlobalGiving’s 15% fee and includes both a gross and
a net total of donations received.

20 | P a g e
The Disbursement Report is emailed to the disbursement contact, as designated
by the Disbursement Form completed during the due diligence process. This
information can be sent to up to five people in your organization. To change your
disbursement contact(s), please email Jonathon Shirley at
jshirley@globalgiving.org.

Organizations can access donor information at any time using the Donation
Manager in PE. Here you can find information about each donation made to your
projects, including the name of the donor (unless anonymous), email address, and
traffic source (Facebook, Google, etc.), donation method (credit card, gift card,
check, etc.), and donation amount. See section 5, Navigating Project Entry (PE),
for more information about how to access the Donation Manager.

12. Explaining GlobalGiving’s 15% Fee

GlobalGiving does not charge organizations a fee to post projects on its site, nor
does it charge you to vet your organization. Instead, 15% of each donation is
used to cover GlobalGiving’s costs, provide free trainings, and continue to reach
out to new donors on your behalf.

This fee makes it possible for GlobalGiving to provide countless benefits

(http://www.globalgiving.org/why-globalgiving/) to its partner organizations,
which include:

• processing applications to ensure that all projects on the site are from
legitimate, high quality organizations;
• maintaining GlobalGiving’s online fundraising platform;
• managing corporate relationships;
• offering free trainings to our partners
• marketing and social media outreach; and
• providing customer support.

At the end of each transaction, donors are given the option to cover
GlobalGiving’s costs separately. Donors may choose to pay an additional 0 – 25%

21 | P a g e
on top of their regular donation. Additionally, some corporate partners cover
GlobalGiving's costs for their employees (and provide matching funds!)

In the past, GlobalGiving partner organizations have received questions from

potential donors about GlobalGiving’s 15% fee. Here are a few suggestions for
explaining the 15% fee to your donors:

• GlobalGiving’s 15% is much more than a processing fee! It makes it

possible for GlobalGiving to provide an innovative online fundraising
platform to partner organizations. The fee facilitates GlobalGiving partner
services, including trainings, matching campaigns, exposure to corporate
partners, and more.

• Unlike other online fundraising platforms, GlobalGiving vets each

organization before allowing it to join the website. GlobalGiving follows
standard grantmaking guidelines (http://www.globalgiving.org/non-
profits/join-globalgiving/dd.html) to vet both U.S.-based and international
organizations, ensuring the organizations’ legitimacy and charitable
purpose. In fact, GlobalGiving is so confident in the organizations on its site,
that GlobalGiving provides the GlobalGiving Guarantee, which guarantees
donors a positive giving experience. As a result, GlobalGiving has
maintained a superior reputation for online giving. See what others are
saying about the GlobalGiving Guarantee:
http://www.globalgiving.org/aboutus/media/#3.

• GlobalGiving facilitates international giving by providing an easy-to-use

online donation tool that makes it possible for networks in other countries
or regions of the world to donate instantly online.

• For donations made to organizations that are not registered in the United
States, giving through GlobalGiving makes it possible for donors to receive a
tax-deduction. In addition, GlobalGiving manages all tax receipts, making it
easy for organizations to provide this service to their supporters.

• GlobalGiving is a non-profit and it relies on funding to maintain its

operations. GlobalGiving’s fee makes it possible to operate at near-
sustainability so, instead of expending organizational capacity on grant

22 | P a g e
writing and fundraising, GlobalGiving focuses on providing partner
organizations with additional fundraising opportunities, tools and trainings,
fundraising campaigns, and more!

13. GlobalGiving Corporate Partnerships

GlobalGiving has partnerships
with numerous American and
international corporations
like Nike, Dell, and National
Geographic. We work with
these corporations to
facilitate:

1. Employee giving programs: Corporate employees give through

GlobalGiving’s site to GlobalGiving partner projects. Many of these
donations are matched in full or in part by the corporation! Nike employees
have given hundreds of thousands of dollars through GlobalGiving, most of
which has been matched by Nike, totaling $816,611 since November 2009!
2. Grants management: Corporate partners often request recommendations
from GlobalGiving for corporate grants programs.
3. Gift card programs: Corporations purchase gift cards to give out to their
partners and employees. For example, Sony Dreakworks—the people who
make the animated films like Shrek—gave GlobalGiving gift cards to all of
their employees in December 2009.

Here are some ways that your organization can take advantage of GlobalGiving’s
corporate relationships:

□ Be an active GlobalGiving partner! Attend GlobalGiving webinars and training

sessions. Participate in GlobalGiving campaigns such as the Bonus Day or
Photo Competition and keep GlobalGiving updated about exciting things
happening in and because of your organization. The more we know about your

23 | P a g e
organization, the more likely we are to recommend your organization to a
corporate partner.

□ Maintain a high-ranking project. Just like the GlobalGiving site, employee

giving sites, like WEGiving (Nike’s employee giving site), rank projects based on
certain criteria (see section 3, How to Improve Project Visibility). By
maintaining a high-ranking project, you are more likely to be seen by
thousands of employees whose donations are often matched by their
employer!

14. Benefits of GlobalGiving’s Platform

14. 1 GlobalGiving’s Network
Since 2002, almost 115,000 donors have given over $31 million to over 3,000
projects (as of September, 2010). Find more up-to-date information about our
network at the top of our homepage!

14.2 Online Fundraising Platform

Online Donation Processing: GlobalGiving makes it easy for donors to make
donations to your organization online using credit cards and PayPal.

Donation Manager: GlobalGiving manages all of your organization’s donations

and compiles the information in an easy-to-use donation manager, which shows
you who donated, how much, and how they found your organization online.

Project Reports: Keep your donors connected by simply submitting a project

report through GlobalGiving! After you submit a brief report about your project’s
recent activities and accomplishments, GlobalGiving sends it as an email to all
your previous donors. This makes it easy for you to ensure that all of your donors
receive your updates. No messy mail merge or listservs!

Customized Thank You’s: Organizations can send customized thank you emails to
each of their donors through GlobalGiving’s donation manager.

All donations are tax deductible for U.S. Citizens: All projects on globalgiving.org
have been pre-qualified for 501(c)3 equivalency status. Further, all donations go
through the GlobalGiving Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, making them tax-
deductible for U.S. taxpayers. This means that international organizations can use
GlobalGiving to reach out to their American networks. GlobalGiving handles all
donor tax-receipts, meaning less work for you!

14.3 Online Fundraising Tools

GlobalGiving’s Widgets help you promote your
project on your organization’s homepage or blog. One
click takes donors directly to your project page so they
can donate. Email tools and widgets make it easy to
share your fundraiser with support networks, family,
and friends.

GlobalGiving Fundraisers: GlobalGiving makes it easy

for you to turn your organization’s supporters into
active advocates. Encourage your donors to use
GlobalGiving fundraiser pages to raise money for your
GlobalGiving projects. Supporters can use Fundraisers to set their own fundraising
goals and reach out to their own networks on your behalf! Here’s an example of a
successful GlobalGiving Fundraiser:
http://www.globalgiving.org/dy/fundraiser/prevfund/gg.html?regid=1824. Learn
how to create a fundraiser here: http://www.globalgiving.org/givingtools/.

Volunteers: GlobalGiving partners with several volunteer organizations to help

your organization reach out to a worldwide network of capable volunteers and
interns. Whether your organization has administrative, hands
on, or communication needs, there is someone out there who
wants to help, and we’ll help you find them. Visit
GlobalGiving’s current volunteer listings here:
http://www.globalgiving.org/get-involved/.

Tribute Cards: Did you know that your donors can give a
donation to your organization as a gift to a family member or
friend using GlobalGiving’s tribute cards? This is a great way to

25 | P a g e
promote giving to your organization for the holidays, birthdays, and special
occasions using GlobalGiving! We will even send a beautiful card straight to the
gift recipient’s home (or email box). Learn more at
http://www.globalgiving.org/gifts/inhonor.html.

Gift Cards: GlobalGiving Gift Cards let someone give the gift of giving - the
recipient gets to decide to which project they would like to allocate their
donation. Gift Cards are available as physical cards, convenient e-cards, and even
a print-at-home version!

Reoccurring Donation Option: When your donor chooses to support your project,
they'll be asked to specify whether this is a "one time" or "monthly recurring
donation." If they select "monthly recurring donation" the amount they wish to
give will easily be transferred to your project every month.

Gift Registries: A donor can create a gift registry for any occasion
— a wedding, birthday, or anniversary — or simply to generate
support for projects like yours. A GlobalGiving registry is a list of
"gifts" that they would like to receive, but in this case, the gift is
actually a donation to your project. Check out a GlobalGiving staff
member’s gift registry!

Mission Fish: GlobalGiving partners with MissionFish to make it easy for eBay
sellers to give proceeds from their sales to nonprofits. GlobalGiving partners with
MissionFish to allocate funds to various active projects.

Training Sessions: GlobalGiving offers trainings that teach your organization how
to use GlobalGiving’s site effectively, conduct outreach to your donors, and
develop impactful fundraising strategies. See slides from past trainings on topics
like Diaspora giving and using social media at www.slideshare.com/GlobalGiving.

Project of the Month Club: Each month,

GlobalGiving picks an exceptionally high
performing project as the "Project of the Month,"
which is featured among a select group of donors.
Recurring monthly donations made by Project of
the Month Club members are directly allocated to
the project’s fund. Learn more at

14. 3 Fundraising Campaigns
Every year GlobalGiving hosts different campaigns—matching days, photo
competitions, etc.—aimed towards giving your organization the opportunity to
reach out to your donors and compel them to donate.

In June 2010, GlobalGiving hosted a 50% match Bonus Day on which GlobalGiving
matched all donations of $1,000. Organizations raised $226,636 from 1,385 on
that day and received $70,000 in matching funds from GlobalGiving. See the
results at http://www.globalgiving.org/leaderboards/bonus-day/.

14. 4 Corporate Partnerships

GlobalGiving has partnerships with dozens of
American and International corporations
including Nike, Dell, and National
Geographic. Check out a full list of corporate
sponsors at

partners/current-partners/.

14.5 Media Outreach

In the past, celebrities and large media enterprises have taken on the task of
spreading the word about GlobalGiving. GlobalGiving has been highlighted in the
New York Times, the Washington Post and featured on CNN and NPR, among
others.

New York Times columnist Nick Kristof

promoted HeroRats in an Op Ed article in
May 2010 and encouraged hundreds of
donors to check out GlobalGiving. The
article resulted in over a quarter million
dollars in donations to GlobalGiving projects! Visit GlobalGiving’s Media Room to
read other news stories spotlighting GlobalGiving:

GlobalGiving has also been acclaimed in books by well-known authors including
William Easterly and championed by celebrities such as Oprah and Cher. In fact, in
2009, 2,875 people gave to GlobalGiving projects through Oprah.com!

14. 6 Social Media

Outreach
GlobalGiving reaches out to
perspective donors through
our social media network using
Twitter and Facebook. With
more than 16,500 followers on
Twitter and 6,400 fans on
Facebook, a simple message
about your organization goes a
long way.

14. 7 GlobalGiving UK
GlobalGiving.co.uk is GlobalGiving’s sister site in the UK. It exists to help your
organization activate your UK based supporters and networks. All the same great
benefits of GlobalGiving but donations are made in pounds and UK tax payers can
get you an extra 28% on top of their donation through the UK government’s “Gift
Aid.” If you would like to have your project featured on GlobalGiving UK, please
email projecthelp@globalgiving.org.

14. 8 GlobalGiving’s Reputation

By becoming a member of GlobalGiving’s prestigious network, your organization
is benefitting from GlobalGiving’s world-renowned reputation.

Since 2002, GlobalGiving has put an emphasis on maintaining a strong reputation

among donors and non-profit organizations. Donors, partners, and corporations
know that we carefully vet partner organizations and that their donations are safe
with GlobalGiving. This is why GlobalGiving offers the GlobalGiving guarantee, in
which we not only guarantees that organizations on our site are vetted and
legitimate, but that donors will have a valuable experience on GlobalGiving’s site.
