Performance Wear Layer 1

Provides improved slip resistance, durability and
reduced flammability. Engineered ceramic particles
work in a similar way to the technology used in industrial
safety flooring for the most demanding commercial
environments. Reduced flammability is achieved by
these particles forming a char layer during the burning
process.
Performance Wear Layer 1 Performance Wear Layer 2
Provides improved smoke and toxicity performance.
Made up of a polymer alloy, this layer offers reduced
smoke production and toxicity during burning. This
helps Amtico Marine meet the very stringent criteria
Performance Wear Layer 2 required to achieve Wheelmark certification issued by
Lloyds Register Verification.

Aesthetic layer
Our in-house design team create a perfect replication
of natural wood, stone and marble, as well as abstract
products.
Aesthetic layer Performance Layer 3
Provides improved reduction of flammability.
Constructed from a combination of PVC and resins
to form an engineered polymer alloy. The added
Performance Layer 3 performance fillers provide good bulk mechanical
properties which also exhibit low smoke/toxicity and
flammability characteristics.

Installation (general)
The installation of Amtico International products is straightforward
and follows the same guidelines and procedures that apply to all
quality resilient tile flooring. Good preparation is vital for a trouble free
installation and Amtico International products can be laid on concrete,
timber, stone and many other sub-floors which have been suitably
prepared. Site conditions must comply with the relevant local/national
regulations.
Amtico International products are not suitable for external installations,
wet-rooms, pool-side areas or unheated locations. Products can be used
with underfloor heating (we recommend that Amtico International HT
Adhesive is used in this situation), which should be switched off for
48 hours, before and 48 hours after installation. The recommended
maximum surface temperature is 27°C (81°F) and during its life, a floor
should not be allowed to cool below 13°C (55°F).
Tiles, adhesive and sub-floor must be allowed to stabilize to a consistent
temperature between 18°C – 27°C (64°F – 81°F), for a period of 24hrs
before and 24 hours after installation. Following installation the floor
should be protected from heavy traffic for 24hrs and not washed for
48hrs.
Sub-floors
Always follow other manufacturers’ recommendations when using
their proprietary materials for sub-floor preparation. Careful sub-floor
preparation is essential for an excellent floor appearance and good tile
adhesion.
The sub-floor must be hard, smooth, clean, dry, free from defects and
suitable for purpose. A suitable levelling compound should be used to
ensure that no irregularities show through to the surface of the finished
floor. In all cases the sub-floor must be sufficiently dry and the moisture
content checked using a suitable moisture test. Readings higher than
those permitted by local/national regulations will require corrective
action – either time for the sub-floor to dry sufficiently or the use of a
suitable surface damp proof membrane. Direct to earth concrete and
stone sub-floors must have an effective damp proof membrane (DPM).
New Concrete
Must be allowed sufficient time to dry thoroughly, as it will contain a
high percentage of residual moisture. Apply a levelling compound.
Old Concrete
Must be cleaned of all paint, grease, wax and any other foreign matter.
Apply a levelling compound.
Old Resilient Floors
Existing tiles should be lifted and adhesive residues removed by scraping
(not applicable when using Spacia Access tiles). No solvents should be
used to remove old adhesive. Apply a levelling compound.
NB - As a safety precaution when lifting vinyl asbestos tiles, the
appropriate safety measures should be adhered to.
Terrazzo/Stone/Quarry Floors
Repair worn or damaged areas, de-grease and apply a levelling
compound.
Timber
Must be overlaid with a minimum 6mm (1/4") exterior or flooring
grade plywood, which must be suitably secured. A suitable feathering
compound should be used to ensure the joints are not visible when the
installation is complete.

Adhesives (general)
Only the recommended Amtico International adhesives should be
used – others will not provide adequate performance, may fail and will
invalidate the warranty offered by Amtico International.
Amtico International PS Adhesive
A single part, water-based synthetic polymer adhesive with an extended
working time of 3 hours. It is solvent free, non-flammable and protected
against bio-degradation and mould growth. It is certified as EC1 – very
low emissions.
Amtico International SF Adhesive
A water-based acrylic adhesive recommended for all areas except
those subject to heat or moisture.
Amtico International HT Adhesive
A single part, water-based acrylic adhesive that has improved
temperature resistance. It is recommended for areas subject to some
heat variations, such as conservatories and adjacent to sunny windows.
It is also suitable for use where underfloor heating has been fitted.
Amtico International Universal 2 – Part Adhesive
A solvent free adhesive. It is certified as EC1 – very low emissions. It is
recommended for areas subject to heat and moisture variations.
Usage of Amtico International Adhesives
Follow the instructions on the labelling, paying particular attention to
the tub life and working times. Spread adhesive evenly using a trowel
with notch size 1.5 x 5.0mm (UK), 1.8 x 1.2 x 1.65mm (Euro A2) or V
notch 1/16th" x 1/16th" x 1/16th" (USA). Do not use worn trowels. Only
spread sufficient adhesive that can be covered within the recommended
open time.
The tiles should be rolled with a 45kg (100lbs) roller as soon as possible
after installing and before the adhesive sets – timing will depend on site
conditions but is generally 1-2 hours after spreading of the adhesive.
Always clean away excess adhesive before it is allowed to dry, use a
soft cloth moistened with Amtico International Adhesive Remover. Dried
adhesive can be removed by carefully scraping it off the tile, or by using
a 3M blue pad moistened with Amtico International Adhesive Remover.
Amtico International Tackifier
A water-based, solvent-free dispersion designed for use as a tackifier for
installing Spacia Access products. It is supplied ready for use by roller
application and dries to a clear film onto which tiles can be loose laid.

General
Amtico International urethane coating makes it easier to clean and
maintain our flooring. Appropriate maintenance procedures will help
to preserve the appearance and extend the service life of the floor. The
frequency of maintenance will depend on the amount of traffic, degree

Amtico International flooring requires no regular refurbishment (e.g.
sanding) or repair. Simply sweep the floor with a soft clean brush to
remove any grit or dirt and routinely remove soiling when required.
As part of routine cleaning use Amtico International Floor Cleaner for
that extra deep clean. Apply using a micro-fibre mop. Rinse the mop
frequently and change the solution when it becomes dirty. The amount
of cleaning depends on the traffic and the floor chosen, but a weekly AMTICO MARINE
wipe over is usually enough. COMMERCIAL
PRODUCT WARRANTY
Commercial Installations
For large areas a scrubber/drier or rotary buffing machine is
recommended. Floors without dressing should be regularly cleaned
either by mopping or using a scrubber/drier or rotary buffing machine
using a neutral detergent and a red 3M pad. If dressing has been
applied use a red 3M pad. Periodically the floor will have to be stripped
and re-coated with a dressing solution. STRATICA

Scratching – use fibre entrance matting (poor quality matting can cause
staining), to remove excess grit, dirt and moisture. Sweep the floor more
often. Use Amtico International Floor Dressing for that extra protection.
Scuffing – as part of routine cleaning use Amtico International Floor
Cleaner or gently rub with a wet, non – scratch scouring pad.
Slippery/Sticky Floor – contamination can be caused by products such

as fat, grease, furniture polish, glass cleaner, perfume spray and other
foreign matter. Spillages should be cleaned up immediately by wiping

with absorbent paper, then wash with Amtico International Floor
Cleaner.
Staining – blot up the spillage with absorbent paper and wash with
diluted Amtico International Floor Cleaner. (Please note: some products
may cause permanent discoloration)
Floor Indentation – protect the floor under heavy furniture with wide SPACIA ACCESS
bearing cups. For chairs and frequently moved furniture use felt pads. COMMERCIAL
