SURYA KIRAN -Solar Street Light
 

This system is designed for outdoor application in un-electrified remote rural areas. This
system is an ideal application for campus and village street lighting. The system is provided
with battery storage backup sufficient to operate the light for 10-11 hours daily. The system
is provided with automatic ON/OFF time switch for dusk to down operation and overcharge /
deep discharge prevention cut-off with LED indicators.

The solar street light system comprise of

74 WP Solar PV Module ,12 V, 75 Ah Tubular plate battery with battery box ,Charge
Controller cum inverter (20-35 kHz) ,11 Watt CFL Lamp with fixtures , 4 meter mild steel
lamp post above ground level with weather proof paint and mounting hardware.

The SPV modules are reported to have a service life of 15-20 years. Tubular Batteries
provided with the solar street lighting system require lower maintenance; have longer life
and give better performance as compared to pasted plate batteries used earlier.

The systems electronic provide for over-charge and over-discharge cut-off essential for
preventing battery and luminaries damages.

Specifications 
DEFINITION
A stand alone so photovoltaic street lighting system comprises a compact fluorescent lamp, lead acid
battery, PV module(s) control electronics, inter-connecting wires / cables, Module mounting hardware,
Battery box, Operation, instruction and maintenance manual.
  
DUTY CYCLE 
The system is designed to automatically switch ON at dusk. Operate throughout the night and
automatically switch OFF at the dawn. Under average daily isolation of 5 kwh/sq.m. on a horizontal
surface
  
LAMP
  
The lamp used is of OSRAM / GE / PHILIPS / INDO-Asia -compact fluorescent (CFL) type, either 4 -
Pin type, with a rating of 11W. For the 4 - Pin type CFL. Pre-heating circuit is provided. The light output
from the lamp is around 900 +5% lumens Also please see (iii) of V given below. The lamp is housed in a
weather proof assembly suitable for outdoor use, with a mirror optic reflector on its back.
  
BATTERY
  
Branded Flooded electrolyte type positive tubular plate. low maintenance lead acid battery  
The battery has a minimum rating of 12V 75 Ah (at C/10) discharge rate. 75 % of the rated capacity of
the battery is between fully charged & load cut off conditions. Ensuring very high reliability and life.
  
CELECTRON
  
The inverter used is procured form Germany having world class electronics of quasi sine wave/sine
wave type. With frequency in the range o 20 - 35 KHz. The total electronic efficiency is rated @ > 80 %  
Resulting No blackening or reduction in the lumen output by more than 10% is observed after 1000
ON/OFF cycles (two minutes ON followed by four minutes OFF is one cycle)  The idle current
consumption is not more than 10 mA. Electronics operate at 12 V and have temperature compensation
for proper charging of the battery throughout the year. Necessary lengths of wires/cables and fuses are
provided. The PV module is used to sense the ambient light level for switching ON and OFF the lamp
  
PV MODULE (S)
  
The PV module(s) contain mono-crystalline silicon solar cells having higher efficiency >14.7%  
The power output of the module(s) under STC is a minimum of 74 W Either two modules; of minimum
37 W output each or one module of 74 W output is used. The operating voltage corresponding to the
power output mentioned above is 16.4 V. The open circuit voltage of the PV modules under STC is >
21.0 Volts.  The terminal box on the module has a provision for opening for replacing the cable if
required. A strip containing the following details is laminated inside the module so as to be clearly visible
from the front side.

ELECTRONIC PROTECTIONS
  
Adequate protection is incorporated under no -load conditions e.g. when the lamp is removed and the
system is switched ON.  The system has ample protection against battery overcharge and deep
discharge conditions. High quality slow blow Fuses is provided to protect against short circuit
conditions. A blocking diode is provided as part of the electronics, to prevent reverse flow of current
through the PV module(s), besides full protection against open circuit accidental short circuit and
reverse polarity is provided
  
MECHANICAL HARDWARE
  
A metallic frame structure (with corrosion resistance paint-Oven baked ) is fixed on the pole to hold the
SPV module(s) The frame structure has provision to adjust its angle of inclination to the horizontal
between 0 and 45, so that the module(s) can be oriented at the specified tilt angle. The pole is made of
mild steel pipe with a height of 4 meters above the ground level, after grouting and final installation. The
pole have the provision to hold the weather proof lamp housing having an IP 55 ingress protection It is
painted with a corrosion resistant paint silver iron. A vented, acid proof and corrosion resistant Oven
baked is painted on the metallic box lockable, for outdoor use is provided for housing the battery.

  
OTHER FEATURES
  
The system is provided with multiple colour LED indicators especially a orange light to indicate charging
in progress and a red LED to indicate deep discharge condition of the battery. The green LED glows
only when the battery is actually being charged .There is a Name Plate on the system which will give
a) Name of our company and Distinctive Logo
b) Serial Number  
 
All components and parts used in the solar street lighting systems conform to the latest BIS
specifications, wherever such specifications are available and applicable.  Besides ISI/EN/UL as
required. The PV module(s) is warranted for a minimum period of 05 years from the date of supply and
the street lighting system (including the battery) is warranted for a period of two years from the date of
supply. The Warranty Card is supplied with the system contain the details of the system supplied along
with additional information about the system and conditions of warranty as necessary date of installation
of each component and security seals.  An Operation Instruction and Maintenance Manual, in English
and the local language is provided with the solar street lighting system

Prices quoted are firm and valid for 30 days from date of offer. After this period a re‐confirmation from 
our office should be taken. 
Taxes:  @  5%  extra  and  13.5  %  Extra  on  battery  all  India  basis.  But  any  such  taxes  as  may  be 
levied/increased in future by the Govt. Through statutory notification shall be payable by customer. Any 
such rules at time of supply shall become applicable.

75/Rmt.  Any  Civil  works  to  be  done  at  site,  grouting  of  the  collector  stand  and  tank  stand  will  be  the 
responsibility  of  the  purchaser.  Our  foundation  details  are  given  above  in  specifications.  Thus  extra

Structural works by us will be limited to provision of supports for collectors and support for Solar Panels. 
Any  catwalk  structure,  elevation  of  collectors,  I‐beams  for  SPV  is  payable  extra.  The  roof  is  assumed 
capable of taking the load of collectors viz. Given earlier i.e.0.025 kgs/cm2. Structural work if done by us 
will be charged extra at the rate of Rs. 50/‐ per kg  which  excludes the materials, etch primer coating, 
enamel paint and cement etc . Or Rs. 120/‐ per kg which includes the materials, and labour. 
 
Note: Above quote prices are subject to change without prior notice. The above mentioned price of both 
system  and  accessories  and  labour  may  vary  from  location  to  location  and  region  to  region.  The  key 
factors to name a few could be site location, distance of site, height of site, localised material availability 
status, localised labour availability etc.  Even price  may vary despite having quoted above,  hence price 
should be taken for reference only and finalised only after verification of prices at your locality.

Maintenance charges for 10 years / service benefits. 
 
We undertake to provide the following: 
After the initial one year guarantee period, we shall take up the Annual Maintenance contract. 
Under AMC we shall charge 5% of order value annually payable at the beginning of the year.  
It shall be our responsibility to keep the systems in good working condition. We shall respond within 48 
hours  to  any  complaints.  Spares,  breakables  as  glass  are  excluded  from  this  contract.  These  shall  be 
payable extra @ Rs 2550/‐ per glass. Normally glass does not break as it is toughened.
