Problem: A single page design strategy for a juice box targeted at age group 18-30

Our Take: W e live in a world that is fast moving towards a state where we will run out of places
to dump our garbage. From different sources we have learnt that anywhere between 50-80% of
plastic bottles are used just once and then thrown away. Plastic takes about 450 years to
degrade naturally and we just don’t have that kind of time when you look at our consumption
patterns.

Our design strategy aims mainly at material as we have landed on the insight that the youth
today cares more about the environment and is more socially aware. With pollution and wastage
at an all time high and showing no signs of slowing down, we strongly believe that more eco
friendly alternatives need to be utilized (even if that means at a slightly higher set up cost). We
have identified two such eco friendly alternatives at we believe will help Faasos connect with the
youth and appeal to their social inklings.

For our deliverable, we are considering the existing brand “Swig” that sells two variants on the
Faasos platform- Green Apple and Jeera Masala. Implementing our idea would mean a
complete overhaul of these beverages in terms of the material used for packaging.

Eco Friendly Option 1:

Choose Water’s Plastic-less Bottle- This is an eco friendly alternative developed by James
Longcroft.
Eco Friendly Option 2:
Agari Water Bottle- This algae based bottle design was created by Ari Jonsson. The most
interesting thing about this is that the bottle starts shrinking and decomposing as soon as the
liquid in the bottle is emptied. And the final product is not just environmentally friendly, it is
edible!

Both our ideas would involve collaborating with the developers of these new technologies, but
once the initial partnership is established, we feel both these options can do Rebel Foods a ton
of good.

We are inclined to push for the Agari Water Bottle as it helps with the one time use and throw
model that is basically the norm for consumers. The bottle itself is translucent which helps in
displaying the product. However, by adding safe for consumption coloring (could also be food
colouring) the bottle can be designed to be any color we’d want it to be. The mock up below
doesn’t do justice to the idea we have, but we feel it is enough to get the idea across. The
design the on the bottle can be in line with Swig’s current designs because that is already trendy
and cool, we are just making it a little more socially responsible.

Faasos is a brand that is socially conscious as is proved by the Hunger Saver

initiative, and so we feel more environmentally friendly packaging is the logical
next step. Of course the goodwill it will earn the brand will definitely be worth it.
