Reflec on Ques on: How has your experience in your pathway impacted your future? (Answer
in 500 words or less)
When I first started high school, I knew the basics about computers, but I didn’t know anything
about computer programming. I especially didn’t know anything about computer programming on
Mac computer’s. This pathway has given me in depth knowledge of computers. Over the next
few years, I worked with many different programs and applications including: Weebly, Google
sites, photoshop, garage band, Imovie, and finally with html. I started in creating simple websites
with programs such as weebly and google sites and dabbled in html, went to photoshop and
learned several way and several different projects to work on.Then transitioned working with
animations and made my own short movie. Next I began to learn how to make music on
garageband and using photoshop, I made a cover for my song. Finally, we re-visited html and
coding and I coded several different websites. In between all of the classes, I also learned
employability skills and this is what changed my future. Employability skills played an very
important in web and digital design pathway and in helping me make my choice.
This pathway is what inspired me to become a computer science major because I realized
that I love working with computers. With every new project or assignment I got, I slowly started to
love it more and more. Eventually I came to the conclusion that I love programming and making
things appear on the screen. Even though working digitally isn’t easy, and one code can easily
make everything malfunction, when I finally find and fix the code, the payoff is always worth the
struggle. Overall, though, I just loved everything and the pathway showed me, that’s why my new
major is in computer science.
