1. Introducción
Para la utilización del Diana Reader es necesario el software Sistema Diana y debe
disponerse de un ordenador compatible PC, con una placa de procesado de imagen
previamente instalada.

El programa del Sistema Diana debe ser instalado por un TÉCNICO CUALIFICADO.
4.4 Conexiones
La instalación del Diana Reader ha de ser realizada por un TÉCNICO
CUALIFICADO y consistirá en la instalación de la placa de procesado de imagen y
del software adecuado.
Por dicho cable se transmitirán las señales de vídeo de las dos cámaras (tarjeta y
microplaca) y las señales de control (detectores de posición e indicadores).

4) Una vez colocada la tarjeta, tal y como indica la Figura 5-4, empuje el
portatarjetas hacia el interior del Diana Reader, en la dirección de la flecha,
hasta que haga tope y suéltelo suavemente hasta que quede bloqueado
dentro del Diana Reader.

Introduzca la microplaca dentro del Diana Reader según la orientación del dibujo
que sigue a continuación:

1) Colóquela encima del cristal y empuje suavemente con los dedos hasta que
la microplaca quede totalmente dentro del lector. Siga empujándola hasta
que haga tope.
2) Una vez hecho esto, retire suavemente la mano del interior del lector,
poniendo mucho cuidado en no arrastrar la microplaca hacia el exterior
del lector.
3) El led de READY [2] (Figura 5-1) se encenderá indicando que se está
tomando la foto.
4) Una vez se haya apagado ya se puede retirar la microplaca. El resultado
aparece en pantalla.
5) Para retirar la microplaca, empuje de nuevo la microplaca hacia el interior
del lector hasta que encuentre el tope, a continuación retire la mano
suavemente acompañando la microplaca en su salida hacia el exterior.
Cuando la microplaca deje de empujar hacia fuera, cójala y retírela.
6) El lector está listo para la siguiente lectura.

Diana Reader Desecho de equipo
Si desea desechar el equipo (porque no desea continuar con su uso), debe limpiarlo
totalmente y eliminar todos los posibles restos de muestras y reactivos. Una vez
hecho esto, puede enviarlo a un centro autorizado para estos desechos.

Diana Reader Introduction
1. Introduction
For the use of the Diana Reader it is necessary the Diana System software and a
compatible PC with an image-processing card previously installed.
In the front panel you can find 2 indicator lights and the holes to place the gel card or
the microplate which has to be read.

It contains the functional power switch, the supply mains inlet, line fuses, the reader-
computer connector and the rating plate as shown in the figure below:
• Power switch [7]: used to turn the instrument on and off. It has two
positions:
- “I”: on.
- “O” off.
• Fuse box [8]: place for the mains fuses.
• Power cord socket [9]: used to connect the Diana Reader to the
mains supply.
• Reader-computer connector [10]: it allows the connection between
the Diana Reader and the computer.
• Rating plate [11]: it contains some specifications as well as the serial
number, model name and the name and the address of the
manufacturer.

On receiving the equipment, it should be checked to ensure that it includes all those
elements specified on the “packing list” that is inside the package and it will be
unpacked.

4.4 Connections
The installation of the Diana Reader must be performed by a QUALIFIED
TECHNICIAN. It will consist on the installation of the image processing card and the
appropriate software.
For the communication between the Diana Reader and the computer, the
manufacturer supplies the cable shown in the figure. The 15-pin connector [12] is
connected with the reader and the 44-pin connector [13] is connected to the PC
image processing card. The 9-pin connector [14] could be optionally connected to the
QPID.
Video signals of the cameras (card and microplate) and control signals (position
detectors and indicators) are transmitted through this cable.

The use of the Diana System software for the reading of gel cards and microplates
using the Diana Reader is well explained in the Diana System Software Manual as well
as the results interpretation
Once the computer and the Diana Reader are switched on and the program is
entered, the Diana Reader is ready for the reading. Follow the instructions appeared
on the screen to introduce and remove the gel card or microplate.
1) If the card holder is inside the Diana Reader, to liberate it, press smoothly
in the arrow direction. Then release it, and the card holder will go out.

3) Put the gel card in the slot of the card holder (see Figure 5-3), having in
mind that the bar code must face the reader Diana Reader. The card must
be subjected by the positioning ball.

At this moment, the card holder is in its correct position, ready for taking the image
and for reading.
While the camera is taking the picture, the light indicator READY [2, Figure 1-1] is
ON. When OFF, it indicates that the image has been taken and you can remove the
gel card following the steps indicated above. All results appear on the screen of the
computer and the Diana Reader is ready for another reading.
When using a bar code on the microplate, this one must be placed in the position
shown below:
When there is no bar code, manual identification is also allowed by the keyboard.
CAUTION!
Introduce the microplate in the Diana Reader as shown in the figure below:

1) Place the microplate on the glass and push it in smoothly with the tip of
your fingers until the microplate is totally inside the Diana Reader. Do not
stop pushing it in until the end.
2) When moving back your hand, take care not to pull the microplate out of
the reader, because it is not fixed.
3) The light indicator READY [2] (Figure 1-1) will be ON indicating the
Diana Reader is taking an image of the microplate.
4) When light indicator is OFF, it means you can remove the microplate.
Results appear on the screen.
5) When removing the microplate, push it again to the interior of the Diana
Reader until it reaches the end. Then, move back softly your hand together
with the microplate. When the microplate stops pulling out, take it and
remove it.
6) The Diana Reader is ready for the next reading.

1) Switch off the power and disconnect the power cord and wait till it is cold.
2) Clean the external surfaces with a clean cloth soaked with soaped water.
3) Decontaminate the outside of the unit by rubbing all exterior surfaces of
the instrument with a clean cloth soaked with a 70% alcohol solution.
