Offensive Co-Players of the Week

Alex Vetras, Amherst
(Senior, QB - Bellevue, Wash.)
Vetras threw a career-high four touchdowns and set a program record for completions in a game (39) to lead the Lord
Jeffs past Wesleyan on Saturday, 37-10. Vetras went 39-of-51 (.765) for 289 yards with a rating of 149.95, as he used 11
different receivers in the victory. He also had two double-digit consecutive completions streaks in the game, throwing 10
consecutive passes in the first half and 13 over the second and third quarters. It was also the fourth consecutive game in
which he was not intercepted, as he has thrown 13 touchdowns and one interception through five games.

Ryan Lupo, Williams

(Senior, RB - Princeton Jct., N.J.)
Lupo tied a program record with four rushing touchdowns in the Ephs’ 35-24, come-from-behind victory at Tufts on Sat-
urday. Lupo toted the ball 39 times and gained 180 yards, an average of 4.6 yards per rush. He also caught two passes
for 11 yards. He opened the scoring in the game at 7:58 in the first quarter on a one-yard run. With Williams down 24-14
midway through the third quarter, Lupo scored on a 10-yard run to bring the Ephs within three, then made it into the end
zone for the third time less than five minutes later to put his team up for good. He added his fourth TD at the start of the
fourth quarter for a 35-24 final.

Defensive Player of the Week

Sam Diss, Tufts
(Sophomore, DB - Ridgewood, N.J.)
Diss grabbed his third interception of the season and also returned a fumble 35 yards for a touchdown during
Saturday’s meeting with Williams, which was eventually won by the Ephs 35-24. He added two pass break-ups
and had four tackles (three solo). Late in the first half, Diss’ pick led to a Jumbo touchdown and put his team
up 17-14 at halftime. On the first possession of the second half, Diss returned the Ephs’ fumble for a 24-14
advantage for Tufts. In addition, Diss returned six kickoffs a total of 128 yards (21.3 per return).

Special Teams Player of the Week

Connor Sullivan, Colby
(Junior, P/QB - Hamilton, Mass.)
Sullivan helped the Mules win the battle of field position during Saturday’s 35-7 victory over Hamilton, as he
averaged 49.6 yards per punt and landed two inside the Continentals’ 10-yard line. Sullivan was only forced
to punt on three of Colby’s 12 drives during the game, with his first punt going 66 yards and ending up at the
Hamilton four-yard line. He also relieved starting QB Nick Kmetz in the fourth quarter and went 1-for-1 through
the air for 10 yards.

Notes From Week #5
Amherst
Junior Kevin Ferber (Mahwah, N.J.) had four tackles (two solo), in-
cluding a sack for a loss of five yards, while sophomore Sam Clark
(Andover, Mass.) finished with five tackles (four solo) and 1.5 tackles
for a loss to lead a Lord Jeff defense that held Wesleyan to 12 first
downs, 253 yards of total offense, and a 3-for-13 performance on third
down in a 37-10 victory. It was the 13th win in a row for Amherst. The
Jeffs have scored 30 or more points in all five of their victories this
season. Senior Sean Legister (Ossing, N.Y.) caught five passes for
55 yards and a pair of touchdowns, his first two of the season, in the
win. Junior P/K Matt Rawson (Bethesda, Md.) was 4-for-4 on PAT
attempts (22-for-23 this season) and 1-for-1 on field goals (32 yards)
in Saturday’s game against the Cardinals. He also had three punts,
averaging 38.3 yards with a long of 44 and one inside the 20.
Bates
Junior wide receiver John Squires (Swampscott, Mass.) led the Bob-
cats in receiving for the third time this season during their 22-9 loss
at Middlebury on Saturday. Squires had four catches for 45 yards.
Junior ILB Kevin Helm (Norwell, Mass.) had career-highs of 15 tackles
and 12 solo stops against the Panthers. Helm ranks second among
his Bobcat counterparts in tackles with 47 so far this season (29
solo). Senior K/P Gavin Segall-Abrams (Greensboro, N.C.) punted
nine times for a 39.4-yard average and also had a 27-yard field goal
during Saturday’s game.
Bowdoin
Quarterback Grant White (Springfield, Vt.) and receiver Sean O’Malley
(Medfield, Mass.) hooked up for the longest play in the Polar Bears’
119 years of football, a 95-yard touchdown pass which gave Bow-
doin a 7-3 first quarter lead over Trinity on Saturday. The previous
record was a 90-yard touchdown pass against Tufts in 1997. Fresh-
man defensive back Joey Cleary (Winchester, Mass.) had a pair of
interceptions - both inside the Bantam red zone - in the Polar Bears’
31-14 setback to Trinity.
Colby
Senior RB Conor Tidgwell (Southbury, Conn.) scored a rushing
touchdown (one yard) and also had a receiving touchdown (19 yards)
to help the Mules post a 35-7 victory over Hamilton on Saturday.
On the day, Tidgwell rushed nine times for 39 yards (4.3 per carry)
and also caught two passes for 21 yards. Senior DB
Richard Newton (Arlington, Mass.) had two intercep-
tions, including one which he returned 64 yards for a
touchdown, in the Mules’ victory over the Continentals.
His other interception return was for 31 yards and set
up another touchdown. Newton also had one tackle

Hamilton
Rookie running back James Stanell (Coopersburg, Pa.) ran for a
game-high 96 yards on just 16 carries (6.0 per carry) in Saturday’s
35-7 setback at Colby. Stanell also hauled in two passes for 20 yards,
and returned six kickoffs for 121 yards, including a 40-yard return.
Senior DL Burke St. John (Chappaqua, N.Y.) was credited with five
tackles, all solo, on Saturday, as he posted two sacks for a loss of 14
yards and also forced a fumble. St. John led a Continental defense
that allowed the Mules’ offense to gain just 255 yards.

Middlebury
Senior RB Andrew Plumley (Burlington, Vt.) amassed
171 yards of total offense to lead the Panthers past
Bates on Saturday, 22-9. Plumley gained 116 yards on
the ground over 27 carries (4.3 yards per carry) while
catching five passes for 55 yards. Classmate Donald
McKillop (Poway, Calif.) added the New England Divi-
sion III record for most passing yards in a career to his Plumley
portfolio against the Bobcats as he hit 7,847 yards, surpassing Matt
Jozokos of Plymouth St. who threw for 7,814 yards from 1987-90.
In just 27 career games, the senior quarterback owns New England
records for attempts, completions, and passing yards. Senior kicker
Anthony Kuchan (Wauwatosa, Wis.) booted three field goals (3-for-4)
in Saturday’s victory, converting from 22 yards twice and 23 yards.
He scored the only points of the second half.
Trinity
Senior CB Harry Melendez (Holyoke, Mass.) intercept-
ed two passes to help the Bantams get past Bowdoin
on Saturday. He also made three tackles and broke
up a pass. Both interceptions came in Trinity territory.
It was the third game this season that Melendez has
intercepted two passes. Freshman running back Evan
Bunker (Topsfield, Mass.) rushed for a career-high Melendez
223 yards on 35 carries (6.4 yards per carry) with a long of 23 yards
and one touchdown in the Bantams 31-14, come-from-behind victory
at Bowdoin on Saturday. It was the 12th straight victory for Trinity
over Bowdoin. Bunker became the first Bantam runner to total 200
or more yards in a game since 2004. Sophomore kick returner Nick
Campbell (New Albany, Ohio) averaged 39.7 yards per return over
three returns in Saturday’s game, including a long return of 59 yards
to set up Trinity’s first touchdown of the day and cut the Bowdoin’s
lead to 14-10.
Tufts
Senior QB Anthony Fucillo (Winthrop, Mass.) completed 25-of-47
passes (.532) for 264 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 35-24
setback to Williams. Classmate Pat Bailey (Beverly, Mass.) caught
11 passes for 56 yards in the game.
Wesleyan
Running back Shea Dwyer (Marlborough, Conn.) was held to under
100 rushing yards for the first time this season, as he gained 95
yards on 25 carries (3.8 per carry) in the Cardinals’ 37-10 setback
to Amherst. He also caught six passes for 51 yards. Dwyer was
responsible for Wesleyan’s lone touchdown, scoring on the ground
and bringing him to 10 rushing TDs through five games. He has at
least one rushing touchdown in every one of the Cardinals’ games
this season. Junior DB Jordan Greene (Titusville, Fla.) led all tacklers
with 12 (seven solo).
Williams
Junior DB Dan O’Mara (Allison Park, Pa.) made seven tackles (six
solo), including one for a loss of five yards in the Ephs’ 35-24 victory
at Tufts on Saturday. O’Mara also had a pass break-up in the win.
