Women Security, Women Emancipation and Other Issues: An Observation

The issue of women security and safety has become a critical and complicated matter of
discussion, thinking, anxiety and proper initiatives as the women, particularly the Bangladeshi
women have been suffering from acute, intolerable, expressed, unexpressed, inhuman and
primitive means of violence, torture, oppression, disturbance and death rendering the half of the
population under tremendous and indeterminable threat and hazard of humiliation,
underdevelopment, injustice and destruction.

Today it is truly questionable and ruthlessly unjustifiable how much the human civilization has
been advanced so far or how much we, as human beings, have been socialized, civilized, gentle,
modified, religious, ethical and full of conscience in the advent of bad, rigorous, indescribable,
and intolerable animalistic aggression, assault and barbarism towards women of all ages where
there have been fatal and ruthless aspects like physical and psychological torture, sexual assault
and harassment, killing of women, girls and children for various causes such as dowry, early
marriage, etc., familial and social injustice , the irritation and disturbance of female folk and
children by the unscrupulous ones and so on.

In a recent survey conducted by BBS (Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics) obviously summarizes

that 72.6% women have been tortured by their husbands once in their life; 1331 women folk
have been assaulted in various ways for dowry where 706 of them have been killed and 812
female folk and children have been acutely irritated in the last five years by the mischievous
ones.

Besides, the report lucidly states that 1680 female children have been killed in the last five years;
86% of the victims in the rape cases are female children and teenagers and two-thirds of the
female children and teenagers among the rape victims have been killed.

The figures are staggering, incredible and disastrous in a moment when, in general, the human
civilization has proceeded so far and in particular, Bangladesh has been gradually performing
well in the socio-economic, socio-cultural, geo-political and national-international variables.

It is to note that women must be careful and vigilant in selecting friend, companion and husband
and they should maintain good, sound, civilized, gentle, modified, religious and progressive
attitude, behavior, psychology and lifestyle where it is imperative for the people of all walks of
life to raise public awareness regarding familial, social, regional, communal, national and
international arena.

It is essential for the women folk not to engage in any pre-marriage physical relationship with
their beloved ones by any means as this type of insecure contact tends to secure more
complexities and complications so far where it is significant for the authorities related to
represent sound, decent and tasteful programmes, and presentations in mass media, virtual world
and other broadcasting and social media.
It’s also imperative to build a good, effective, sound, strong, civilized, and disciplined human
chain comprising different types of important authorities, guardians, seniors and people of all
walks of life to monitor and supervise critical women issues and arrange, if needed, exemplary
punishments for the evil-doers since it’s urgent to reform familial, social, regional, national and
international organizations and institutions to prioritize mostly the issue of women safety and
security.

Though the sorrows, sufferings and mischief in the life of women in the war and violence-
stricken regions and countries of the world are indescribable, incredible and overwhelming in the
recent decades, the issue of women safety and security has been a critical and complicated issue
since the dawn of civilization as women have been combating told and untold, expressed and
unexpressed grievances, harassment, torture, humiliation, violence and agony as highlighted in
their psycho-physical , socio-economic , socio-cultural, national and international complications
and complicacies.

Women and female children are yet to overcome mostly acid violence, early marriage, rape and
mass rape, killing, abduction and all sorts of wanted and unwanted physical and psychological
torture, harassment and humiliation at home, workplace and abroad as these types of negativity
towards women tremendously hamper socio-economic development and improvement
questioning the true quality of human civilization, peace, growth, progress, religion, ethics and
conscience.

Moreover, there have been opportunities and obstacles for the feminine gender in case of
education, training, health, nutrition, workforce, resource distribution and such types of
important and critical issues where women and female children have to face critically the modern
age complexities like women-trafficking, drug addiction, illegal and uncivilized sex business,
terrorism, criminalization, family break-up and other sorts of socio-economic, socio-cultural and
national and international complexities and oddities.

Today, the world calls for the emancipation of women from all types of socio-economic, socio-
cultural, geo-political and national and global anomalies and devoid of normalcy since the
issues like well-sensed and well-justified freedom of women, women empowerment, women
rights and women development are going to be prioritized in line with the other preferential
development issues of the present world.

Our sisters, mothers and children demand not only prevention, protection and cure, but also
affection, sympathy, help, co-operation, compassion and consideration so that almost half of our
population do not pose as hindrance and obstacles to our national and global development and
Bangladesh in connection with the world is expected to generate and establish a women-friendly
atmosphere in all walks of life promoting goodness, soundness and ethics in our regional and
global arena.
