Principal’s Message

We have had an exciting October at Forest Green and it has been fantastic to watch our
school grow through the classroom blogs. Our focus is to create a learning community where
ALL of us are role models to our students. We appreciate all of the comments and kind
words to our teachers and students, and we look forward to receiving more! It is great that
we have so many taking part in the learning that is happening at Forest Green School.

The weather is getting a little colder and the snow has already fallen in Alberta. We do our
best to provide all of our students with a safe and caring environment, but it is hard to work
when you are cold! Kids (including when I was in school) sometimes do not want to wear
warm clothing since it is not “cool”, but it is important that we catch them before they leave
the house in shorts when it is –10! We do our best to provide students with warm clothing if
they forget on any day and we want to ensure our students are prepared for what is supposed
to be a cold winter. Please ensure your child is dressed adequately.

Forest Green School

We also encourage all parents that visit Forest Green to ensure that they are not only signing
in at the office (it is important that we know everyone that is in the building to keep your stu-
dents as safe as possible!), but that they are very aware of any mud or slush that is tracked in
to the school. We all learn better when our environment is clean.

As another safety measure, please ensure that in the morning, we are patient when dropping
off our students at Forest Green School. The Forest Green loop is very busy and we would
much rather have a child being late than an accident. Our kids are always watching how we
act, therefore we always must ensure that we are being safe as staff and parents. Thanks for
continuing to take care of all the students at our school.

I am looking forward to another fantastic month at Forest Green! With such a caring staff
and parent community, our students are destined to be leaders!

Have a wonderful November!

Sincerely,
George Couros

KEY DATES FOR November

November 2 (3:30 PM) - Parent Council Meeting at Forest Green School!

November 10 - Remembrance Day Ceremony (Please check the website for the
exact time as it is yet to be determined.)

November 15 - Staff Professional Development Day. (No school for students)

November 29 - Report cards go home. (All classes except Mrs. Kuhl’s)

Notes from the Office

We also appreciate volunteers and lots of them! Volunteers are an important key to a successful year. We need volun-
teers to assist in the classroom, with the hot lunch program, other special events and in many other areas. If you are
able to volunteer some of your time, please contact the school. Volunteers who expect to work more than 10 hours per
year must fill out a criminal record check with the RCMP and provide the document to the school office. Forms are
available at the school office to waive the criminal record check fee. Please be aware that criminal record checks must
be completed annually.

Please do your best to ensure that you do any communication you need to with your child before the school day. As
the school phone is a business phone, we encourage our students to only use it in the case of an emergency. We appre-
ciate your help with this.

Finally, school fees were due September 30, 2010. If you have not yet paid your school fees, please see Mrs. Bu-
chaski to make arrangements as soon as possible.
