Proposal Manager

Tasks

The proposal manager will be part of our Oil & Gas proposal team. The objective will be to develop world class proposals
based on the customer requirements and ABB best practices. The incumbent will collaborate closely with our sales team,
operational business units, legal department, and other groups within ABB.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Review / analyze in-bound proposal requests (such as RFP, RFQ, EOI, Pre-qualifications, etc.), and develop proposals
structure and contents to address these requests. Proposal responses include both firm and budgetary for the Oil & Gas
industry (Including DCS, SCADA, Field Construction, Engineering, E-House, Field Operations and Panel Assembly).
- Plan and coordinate proposal tasks to meet proposal delivery; working closely with account managers, subject matter
experts (SMEs), estimators, project managers, sales managers, directors and controllers.
- Coordinating and lead proposal meetings, such as strategy sessions, Go/No go, risk reviews, technical reviews and
preparing necessary materials to facilitate meetings.
- Assist with proposal budgets and other technical sections as required, including the cost model, and obtaining
quotations from sub-suppliers (if required).
- Act as a subject matter expert to ensure proper proposal procedures and processes are followed and all proposal
submittals are in compliance with company and governmental regulations.
- Ensure that all final products are clear, compelling and fully comply with all procurement requirements.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with proposal teams and colleagues, as well as other stakeholders, to ensure
continuous improvements in the proposals submitted.
- Work with capture managers on large strategic opportunities, analyzes customers, competitors, internal capabilities, and
helps articulate win strategies.
- Compile internal intelligence such as past history with client for proposal decisions and strategy.
- Contribute to management of corporate proposal resource libraries, including resumes, project descriptions and
proposal archives.
- Focus on continuous improvement for proposal writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approaches,
coordination and boilerplate.
- Design and develop tools necessary in ensuring quality proposals are being delivered.
- Produces, assembles, labels and packages all hard copy proposals, in full compliance with RFP instructions.
- Maintaining sales support database in reference to proposal tracking.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

1 | Proposal Manager
Level of education: Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma
Experience: 2 – 5 years experience in proposals, marketing or technical sales. Oil and Gas industry experience an asset.
Professional Membership: APMP – Foundation level would be an asset.
Other requirements:
- Fully versed in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and database application tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-orientated work environment and successfully execute many
tasks simultaneously; with the ability to work extra hours if needed to meet deadlines.
- Customer-focused in defining quality and establishing priorities.
- Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage time and deal with multiple issues, including shifting priorities and schedules.
