• 1 Phase inverse time under voltage Relay.

• Programmable (Non- Volatile) Setting By local keys Back - lit LCD

display for settings.

• Display of fault voltage / Load voltage.

• Voltage Sensing Setting Range – 30% to 90%. in steps of 1%.

• IDMT Curve.

• Latching of fault value.

• Pass-word protection for setting.

2.0 General : -
The ADR112A is member of Ashida Numerical Relay family (Aditya
Series) design to meet demand of low and medium switchgear control.
The ADR112A is basically 1 phase inverse time under voltage protection
with IDMT time. The ADR112A continuously monitors the phase voltage,
through PT connections. The high-speed micro-controller samples this
voltage sine wave through a 12 bit A/D converter. The micro-controller
performs powerful Digital Algorithms to find out Amplitude of voltage
signal, and then this value is use for protection and metering function. All
measurement is tuned to fundamental frequency and reject all
higher harmonics present in electric supply. Phase voltage is also
displayed on 16 x 2 LCD display for metering. The Relay is having main
three functions 1) Protection 2) Self-Supervision 3) Measurement.

3.0 Protection Functions : -

The ADR112A gives maximum benefit / cost ratio. The ADR112A gives
all the advantage of numerical relay at affordable cost.

Under Voltage Relay ADR 112A (AVDG13)
Rev.: 01 Dt. 20.11.06
3.1 Inverse Time Over Voltage Protection : -
The ADR112A sense input voltage from line PT. The tripping voltage
can be set to 30% to 90% in steps of 1%. Where 100% = 110Vac. The
high speed CPU continuously monitor input voltage sine wave. It
calculate RMS voltage using numerical technique, compare this voltage
value with setting. If the voltage is blow any setting, CPU starts to
calculate time as per IDMT curve and provides trip command if fault is
persist even after this time delay.
All the settings are password protected to prevent unauthorised change.

4.0 Supervision Function : -

4.1 Self-supervision : -
The continuously keeping track on its internal hardware and the
movement it detect any failure of any component, it give message on
LCD display, This feature is very useful to give pre information to avoid
any mall - operation. In such situation it use some default setting and
remain in protection mode.

5.0 Measurement Function and Communications :-

In normal condition this display shows all settings. Via keyboard the
display can be program to show the actual voltage across relay coil. If
voltages deviate from settings the relay gives trip command. The type of
fault is displayed on LCD display. During the fault condition the relay
measure the fault voltage and store in non-volatile memory. The
current fault can be read via keyboard on LCD display, Last 5 fault
values along with tripping counter can be view via key-board. All
settings are save in Electrically erasable read only memory and remain.

Rev.: 01 Dt. 20.11.06
6.0 Electrical Noise Immunity : -
Utility and industrial environments are electrically very noisy. Electronics
protection equipment requires careful design and testing to ensure
reliable operation in switchgear. Ashida has applied its expertise and
more than 35 years of experience in field of electronics design to ensure
that the ADR112A operates when required, without nuisance trips.
Thanks to the latest micro-controller technology.

7.0 Setting Reliability : -

Any numerical or digital relay in which all settings are programmable via
keyboard or communication port, use some internal memory to store
these settings. Many relays use internal rechargeable batteries to
maintain these settings. In case of power supply fluctuation, batteries are
often unreliable, and settings get corrupted. In such situation, the relay
may mal-operate. Ashida uses special non-volatile memory technology,
which does not require any power source to maintain settings of the relay.
Once the relay is programmed, it maintains the settings more than 10
years even in the absence of any power supply. In case if internal fault is
detected in this section during the self diagnosis, then relay gives
message and take default settings stored in program memory to avoid
any mal-operation.

14.0 Complete Functional Testing: -
Using following procedure all the main characteristics of the relay can be
checked.
Instruments used for testing
• Variac
• ARTU
• Digital Multi Meter.
1. VARIAC :-It is the instrument, which gives us the adjustable rated
voltage. The input voltage is 230vac/50hz & the output voltage is 0 to 260
VAC variable.
2. ARTU: - Ashida Relay Testing Unit (ARTU). This is specially design to
measure operating time of IDMT relay. Though this instrument is shown
in diagram any other make but similar function can be used. This
instrument is having two terminals for START and two terminals for
STOP. And one toggle switch marked as NC/NO for each. If toggle switch
of START is on ‘NO’ position then after sharing these terminal will start
the counter. And if toggle switch is on ‘NC’ position then after opening
these terminal will start the counter. Similarly toggle switch near to STOP
terminal control the stopping of counter. The counter resolution is 1mS
and 5 digit are provided. The counter is auto range, i.e. initially the
counter is in 100sec range means up to 99.999sec counter will show
timing with 1mS resolution after that it automatically change the range.
Now up to 999.99sec it will display timing with 0.01sec resolution and so
on. The maximum count is 99999sec. If you want to use any other make
counter then please use ALARM contact of relay for time measurement.
The relay is equipped with arch quenching capacitor of 0.1uF across trip
contact, which enhance the life for relay contact in DC switching. This
capacitor may mall-trigger the timer if care is not taken in timer design.

Auxiliary Supply - The relay is available for two different types of Auxiliary
supply.
1. For 18V DC to 52V DC.
2. For 77V DC to 250V DC.
Check the relay rated auxiliary voltage on front plate and connect suitable DC
supply or stationed battery supply to relay appropriate terminals.
After connecting auxiliary supply switch on the Power supply and the check the
Power ON indication provided on relay front. The relay will display power on
messages as shown in section 10.0 “getting started”
