ADMISSION OF STUDENTS TO THE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF JAFFNA FOR

THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019

Applications are called for the Higher National Diplomas conducted by University College
of Jaffna for those who have successfully completed the GCE (A/L) in one sitting in the
relevant stream or relevant NVQ level 4 qualification with effective date prior to 31 st
December 2018.

HOW TO APPLY

1. Age should be below 29 years as at 15.01.2019 for All Courses

2. Fill the application in English language.

3. Application could be sent by registered post to reach the following address on or

before 31st January 2019.

Please write “Application for University College” on the top left hand corner of the
envelope.

4. Late and unduly filled applications will be rejected.

5. Do not attached copies of certificates to the application. But, originals of the Entry
qualification Certificate {GCE (A/L) or NVQ Level 4}, Birth certificate,

 extracurricular certificates and National Identity Card should be produced at the
selection test / interview.

6. NVQ Level 5 & 6 Courses will be conducted in English medium. English and
Information Technology (ICT) classes will be conducted to improve the English
language and ICT skills of the students throughout the course period.

7. Please Pay Rs 500.00 to the Peoples Bank for the following account no
162-100100045947 (University College of Jaffna) and paste the PAYING IN
VOUCHER in the given box

Years )

G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with three passes in Maths stream or Technology (ET)
stream or Art with Credit Pass for Hard Technology (Civil Technology) in one
sitting.

OR

NVQ Level 4 certificate in Construction Craftsman (Mason) or Construction

Craftsman (Plumber) or Draught Person or Construction site Supervisor or Wood
Craftsman (Building / Furniture) or Aluminum Fabricator.

2. Higher National Diploma in Building Services Technology (HNDBST) ( Full Time

- 3 Years)

G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with three passes in Maths stream or Technology (ET)
stream or Art with Credit Pass for Hard Technology (Civil Technology) in one
sitting.

NVQ Level 4 certificate in Electrician or Refrigerator & AC Mechanic or

Construction site Supervisor or Building Service Technician or Plumber or Elevator
Technician.

3. Higher National Diploma in Mechatronics Technology (HNDMT) ( Full time – 3

Years)

G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with three passes in Maths stream or Technology (ET)
stream or Art with Credit Pass for Hard Technology (Mechanical or Electrical,
Electronic and Information Technology) in one sitting.

OR

NVQ Level 4 certificate in Mechatronics Technician or Electrician or Pneumatic

Operator or Machinist or Industrial Electronic Craftsman or Tool and Die Maker

4. Higher National Diploma in Food Technology (HNDFT) ( Full time – 3 Years)

G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with three passes in Bio stream or Technology (BST)
stream or Agriculture or Art with Credit Pass for Soft Technology (Food
Technology, Agro Technology) in one sitting.

OR

NVQ Level 4 certificate in Baker or Cook or Fruit &Vegetable Processor.

5. Higher National Diploma in Production Technology (HNDPT) ( Full time – 3

Years)

G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with three passes in Maths stream or Technology (ET)
stream or Art with Credit Pass for Hard Technology (Mechanical Technology) in
one sitting.

OR

NVQ Level 4 certificate in Machinist or Welder or Tool & die maker or Fabricator
(Metal)

6. Higher National Diploma in Farm Machinery Technology (HNDFMT) (Full Time
– 3 Years )

G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with three passes in Science (Maths/Bio) stream or

Technology (ET) Stream or Art with Credit pass for Soft Technology (Agro
Technology) or Hard Technology (Mechanical Technology) in one sitting.

NVQ Level 4 certificate in Auto Mobile Mechanic or Three Wheel Mechanic &
Motor Cycle Mechanic or Field Assistant (Agriculture) or Agricultural Equipment
Mechanic.

7. Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management (HNDHM) ( Full Time – 3

Years )

G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with three passes in Maths or Bio stream or Art/
Commerce or Technology stream in one sitting.

OR

NVQ Level 4 certificate in Cook or Room Attendant or Waiter/Steward or Tour

Guide.

8. Higher National Diploma in Cosmetology (HNDC) ( Full Time – 3 Years)

G.C.E. (A/L) Examination with three passes in Maths or Bio stream or Art/
Commerce or Technology stream in one sitting.

OR

NVQ Level 4 certificate in Beautician and Hair Dresser.
