Awards and Recognition

The College of Management has been continually developing its internal strengths through
efficient and effective administration from the faculty and staffs up to molding and developing
globally competitive students. Because of this, the college has been receiving several awards
through the efforts of its faculty and students themselves. Last October 17, 2018, the
Department of Accounting of the College of Management has been recognized by the
Commission on Audit as one of the 2018 Outstanding Accounting Offices of the country. The
Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines, (AGAP), Inc. cited the quality,
timeliness, and accuracy of UPV Fiscal Year 2017 financial report as the basis for receiving the
award.

Moreover, the College of Management Student Council has been part of the Ten Accomplished
Youth Organization (TAYO) finalists awarded last February 2019. TAYO awards is one of the
pretigious awards given to outstanding student councils who continually organizes events
incorporating the country’s existing social issues for the welfare of the student body. Students
are also qualifying different big external opportunities such as Loreal Brandstorm, AmCham,
Ayala Awards, Asset, AGORA youth awards, Enactus, and a lot more. This is just a manifestation
of the competitiveness of not just the faculty and staffs but also the students.

Strong Alumni Relations

The support given by the College of Management Alumni is an evidence of its strong alumni
relations. The UP Alumni Association (UPAA) Iloilo Chapter is continously supporting the college
through different projects that would benefit the UPV contituents. The renovation of the
University of the Philippines Visayas Little Theatre after years of being in its unpleasant state is
one of the many projects conducted by the UPAA. The Little Theatre has been present since UP
was established in Iloilo City. It has become a part of the campus life of every student for it has
been a venue for multile purposes such as dances, talent fests, quiz shows, examinations,
seminars, workshops, practices, and even significant events of the college.

K-12 Program

The courses offered in the College of Management are BS Accountancy, BS Management, BS


Business Administration Major in Marketing. Basically, these three courses are business courses
which require that their strand in the K-12 program is Accountancy, Business, and Management
(ABM). However, some students admitted in the college belong to different strands like STEM
and GAS which make it hard for them to cope up with the lessons for they are not yet oriented
with the course.
