VESTA

Advantage of being flexible:

• Transport: MORET or MCNP
• Evolution: ORIGEN or
PHOENIX (FISPACT wip)
• Predictor, predictor-corrector
• Simple input header
• 43,000 energy group tally
• AURORA depletion analysis tool
VESTA structure, from Wim Haeck

VESTA

•OPAL comissioning data available to IRSN from the IAEA Co-

ordinated Research Project: Innovative Methods for Research
Reactors (CRP 3 IAEA Id1496)

•CRP was closed, from IAEA website seems consideration is being

given to resuming it (Research Reactors CRP 6)

•Benchmark

-Additional sensitivities performed:

• Fuel meat NJOY (makxsf) adjusted to 63˚C -> no

impact on evolution, ~88 ±41 pcm negative reactivity
impact

• Predictor-corrector, with intermediate time steps, no

impact. Done to test cadmium burn-up.
