To Christina School District Voters:

I was very excited when I filed as a candidate for the Christina School Board District D
seat because I believe in the importance of strong schools for our communities. I
wanted to support the district staff and teachers who provided excellent educations for
my sons for over 15 years, and who continue to do so for the parents and students who
are currently part of the Christina schools community. My goal was to be part of a
Board that would rebuild public trust in our District and govern it using a more
collaborative culture than exists today.

Due to unexpected and very significant family health issues, identified just after the filing
deadline for this election, I will be unable to serve on the Christina school board at this
time.

Since the incumbent is the only other candidate to have filed for this seat, the election
would be canceled if I remove my name from the ballot. A cancelled election would not
give Christina School District voters an opportunity to influence our school district's
governance. Rather than letting my personal circumstances negate the upcoming
election, I have decided to leave my name on the ballot. If elected, I will respectfully
decline to serve at this time. This then allows the District's elected board to appoint a
replacement.

I regret that I am not able to pursue my goals to support and improve the Christina
School District, but I believe that Christina voters deserve to have a choice.

Respectfully,
Katie (Catherine) Hegedus
