Overload Release Clutches Ball Detent Clutch
The Hilliard Corporation’s family of overload
release clutches are available in pneumatically
operated or mechanically actuated models.
Both provide reliable torque control to ensure
equipment protection and precise indexing.
Conveyors
A Hilliard overload release clutch is
mounted on the output shaft of a motor used to drive a
conveyor belt. If the conveyor jams, the clutch will
release until the problem is corrected, thus protecting the
motor and other components of the drive assembly.

Linkless Centrifugal Clutches
Reliable, longer life.
Experience and communication have led
to the development of a new concept in
centrifugal clutches. The Hilliard Corporation’s
linkless centrifugal clutches now combine
a dowel pin, vibration dampening bushing
and a symmetrical spring design. The
results are a long service life at an
economical price.
Other benefits include soft starts, load-free
starting and overload protection.
Our centrifugal clutches are ideal for
applications such as fans, blowers,
conveyor drives and mills. Our engineering
and manufacturing capabilities offer a
wide range of choices, from common
mounts to custom designs.

Caliper Disc Brake Systems
Hilliard Twiflex Series/Shunt Brakes
Interchangeable. Proven design.
The Hilliard Corporation and Twiflex Ltd. have applied over 70 years of
combined experience to develop the Series/Shunt Caliper Disc Brakes.
Designed as a direct replacement for drum brakes, these brakes require no
modifications to existing AISE mountings. The design is based on the Twiflex
MR-type brake, which has been used successfully for over 40 years in harsh
industrial environments worldwide. It features few pivoted joints, thereby
reducing maintenance and downtime by making installation and service easier.
SE Caliper Brakes
The SE spring applied and electrically released calipers are designed for
medium to heavy stopping and holding applications. The calipers can be used
with standard brake discs, or clamp to the guide rail of existing equipment.
Normally one or two units can be used per disc, but the number may be
increased depending on the disc size and brake torque requirement. (Request
bulletin MXSE-1 using detachable business reply card on last page.)

Direct Applied
Pneumatic
Serving light to heavy duty tasks, these fast-acting calipers are ideal for dynamic
braking applications. Sensitive and rapid response to air pressure levels also makes
them well suited for tension control applications. Friction pads are secured by quick-
release clips. All calipers have spring retraction to insure ample pad clearance when
the brake is released. The MS, MX, GMR and GMX calipers have an interchangeable
series of air thrusters. Most calipers feature simple access for pad removal and have
self-aligning brake shoes to accommodate moderate disc misalignment and axial
float. (Request bulletin TPC-1 using detachable business reply card on last page.)
Hydraulic
These hydraulic calipers meet the demand for light to heavy dynamic braking
applications. Like every Twiflex caliper they feature easy friction pad replacement
and simple mounting. A range of power units is available, together with controllers
for interfacing with the user’s control system. (Request bulletin THC-1 using detach-
able business reply card on last page.)
Mechanical
These calipers are applied mechanically by means of a lever or hand knob that adjusts
force on the pads, providing an effective economic solution for light drag or tension
where hand setting can give adequate braking control. Powerful lever brakes can be
used with a variety of actuating methods, for example: weight, spring, air, hydraulic or
electric actuators, or hand or foot operated brake levers. (Request bulletin TMC-1 using
