Amanjiwo is a luxury hotel in the Menoreh Hills near Magelang, Central

Java, Indonesia. Amanjiwo hotel is a 5 star. It lies opposite the 9th century
Buddhist sanctuary and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Borobudur. It is
operated by Aman Resorts and was opened in 1997.The name "Amanjiwo"
means "peaceful soul".

Amanjiwo features the cultural heartland of Java and modern Indonesia.


The rich tradition and ancient culture are revealed as guests have the
opportunity to experience the breathtaking nature beauty of rural Java,
temples and arts in the 8th and 9th centuries. Amanjiwo's suits and
walkways of paras stone merge with breathtaking and magical views of one
of the world's most cultural and ancient hostoric sites. The architecture of
Amanjiwo draws from the history, tradition and culture of Central Java,
widely recognized as the birthplace of modern day culture found throughout
Indonesia. The lobby as the main public building is circular in design and
rises to a domed centerpiece. Stepping down to the lower level reveals
panoramic views of the sweeping plains to Borobudur and onti Mount
Sumbing.
Rooms
All are suites, which encircle the main building and offer both interior and
exterior living areas. Entry to each suite is by sliding glass door that
provides a light filled living and sleeping area. The king size bed is
positioned in the center of the suite beneath the high ceilinh and doomed
rooftop. Facilities include a writing desk, occasional table and chairs,
chaise lounge, safety deposit box, and cabinet containing music system
and Private Bar. The bathroom has a dressing area, shower and outdoor
sunken bath.
The hotel was designed by Ed Tuttle and is built in the form of a pillared
temple from local coral-beige limestone (paras yogya) and 15 of the rooms
have private pools. The hotel has its own library (which often hosts lectures
on the history of Borobudur), art gallery, Javanese spa and a swimming
pool with Javanese green tiles, known as hijau danau, set into the rice
fields. The main pool measures 40 meters (130 foot) in length. The hotel
has 36 lavish suites, laid out in two crescents around the central rotunda.
The suites have limestone walls, domed roofs (some are thatched), high
ceilings, terrazzo flooring, sliding glass doors, a central four-pillar bed,
sungkai wood screens, coconut wood and rattan furniture, old batik pillows,
and traditional glass paintings. Many of the rooms have ortraits of notable
Indonesian people on them or traditional carvings. The rooms range from
$850–$3,000 a night, excluding 21% tax.

The Dining Room looks out onto the crescent-shaped Terrace, with its
banquette seating, brass tables, teak-wood chairs and Yogya batik
cushions. The view from the Terrace is particulary arresting at dawn and
twilight, or after the cleansing rain, when the world of Java clears, revealing
more than the rice fields of the Kedu Plain. Borobudur is directly ahead.
Activities & Sport

The property has a number of outdoor swimming pools or guests who want
to soak or sunbath at the poolside on a complimentary basis. They can
participate in the entertainment program for adults of play tennis on the
courts.
In addition, they can pamper themselves with massages anf spa treatments
for an additional fee, as well as by playing golf and biking or go surfing at
the nearby beach.

There's also an indoor shower and an open-air bathtub with a shower at thr
rear of the suite.

Borobudur Suite
With enhanced views of the Borobudur temple and the surrounding valley,
each suite has a four-pillared bed on a raised terrazzo platform, sliding
glass doors that open out onto garden terraces, and a thatched-roof bale or
pavilion for dining or relaxing. There's also an indoor shower and an open-
air bathtub with a shower at the rear of the suite.
Dalem Jiwo Suite
A retreat set within a discreet enclosure complete with a private entrance. It
is comprised of a classically styled rotunda and surrounding terrace, two
separately walled bedrooms (each with stone steps descending to the
suite's private swimming pool), two lounging bales or pavilions, an indoor
shower and an open-air bathtub with a shower at the rear of the suite. The
15m-long infinity poil, finished in a greend Javanese stone known as hijau
danau, is set into the rice fields. The Dalem Jiwo personal butler, always on
call, has separate quarters within the enclosure.
Garden Pool Suite
With views of the Menoreh Hills and surrounding farmland, each suite has
a four-pillared bed on a raised terrazzo platform, sliding glass doors that
open out onto garden terraces, and a natural stone pool stetching from the
bedroom toward an outdoor thatched-roof bale or pavilion for dining or
relaxing. There's also an indoor shower and an open-air bathtub with a
shower at the rear of the suite.
Borobudur Pool Suite
Featuring views of Borobudur and Java's most sacred mountains-Merapi,
Merbabu,Sumbinh and Sindoro- each suite has a four-pillared bed on a
raised terazzo platform, sliding glass doors that open out onto garden
terraces, and a natural stone pool stretching from the bedroom towards and
outdoor thatched-roof bale or pavilion for dining or relaxing. There's also an
indoor shower and an open-air bathtub with shower at the rear of the suite.
