ALZHEIMER’S

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive form of dementia. Dementia is a broader term for conditions
caused by brain injuries or diseases that negatively affect memory, thinking, and behavior. These
changes interfere with daily living.

ALS?

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and spinal
cord. ALS is a chronic disorder that causes a loss of control of voluntary muscles. The nerves
controlling speech, swallowing, and limb movements are often affected. Unfortunately, a cure
has not yet been found for it.
The famous baseball player Lou Gehrig was diagnosed with the disease in 1939. ALS is also
known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

ARTHRITIS?

Ar thritis is an inflammation of the joints. It can affect one joint or multiple joints. There are
more than 100 different types of arthritis, with different causes and treatment methods. Two of
the most common types are osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
ADHD?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental health disorder that can cause
above-normal levels of hyperactive and impulsive behaviors. People with ADHD may also have
trouble focusing their attention on a single task or sitting still for long periods of time.

AUTISM?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a broad term used to describe a group of neurodevelopmental
disorders.
These disorders are characterized by problems with communication and social interaction.
People with ASD often demonstrate restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped interests or patterns of
behavior.
