What do I know about my students and their communities that will inform this unit or lesson? (prior academic learning, everyday experiences, interests, cultural backgrounds)

The students have had some experience with reading in French before. They have read/been exposed to one book before in French at least with me. Most of the students have had an
experience with an adult who has embarrased them. Students have worked with a past tense in French.

Previous lessons

Students have learned three regular family verbs, and several irregular verbs.
Students have learned a past tense.
Students have read an entire book in French first semester.
