Phenomenon
By Peerawit Aunruan
This is my world.
My phenomenon that I want all audiences to travel
together with the music I created.
I want you all to feel every stories and colour I designed
because currently, you’ve already stepped into my world.
This show is inspired by the story of the classical guitar and its evolution from the past to the present. During
my exploration, selected repertoires and other findings lead me to name this show as ‘ Phenomenon ’.
In the history of music, there are few points in time that classical guitar left an important mark. With this
performance, I’d like to showcase different repertoires which explore various roles of the classical guitar,
with the repertoire from different eras.
In the concert, the audience will experience several sounds from the guitar, starting with a solo piece,
followed by a dialogue of two guitars, then exploring the mixture of guitar and other instruments. Later on,
we will hear a performance of classical guitar playing an arrangement from other instrument’s repertoire.
The concert will finish with a concerto piece, showcasing the magic of classical guitar and the phenomenon
in which it reverberate through times.

Saudade :
The Missingness of Time-Space-Memory • Taratawan Krue-On
Saudade (n.)
This project focuses on the feelings of loss and longing, and the absence of something, someone, or some place
that no longer exists.
The feeling, in only a brief moment, shows up and fades away as if it had never existed, leaving behind only
emptiness making us inquire at times if that moment really existed or if we are just making our way to fill in the
blank while the blank itself is truly the truth.
Time marches on, so does reality. No matter how hard or how carefully we try to capture each moment in our life,
Time still moves. And as it moves it takes the image of the reality with it. As said by Heraclitus:
‘No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.’
Tells us how we can never experience reality twice but reality can’t be reality without changing. Time makes us
sentimental, even makes us suffer, of how we can’t re-experience reality. It leads us further and further from our
own memory yet it leaves memory on its way. Since everything always change, we, who try to hold tightly on
something that had happened before, need memory as our carrier and willingly to pay, with our feelings of longing
and face the missingness, only to let our love and bittersweet feeling remain, and to let ourselves sink into the
illusion for a short while. In the end, it will remind us of how we lose it and how uncertain and fragile it is. And once
in a while, it will show us the fact that nothing can ever last forever. Once we lose it, we lose it for good.

This show will bring the atmosphere and stories from my audio book to life using the lyrics of two famous
composers, Astor Piazzolla and Felix Mendelssohn. I was inspired in this project by works such as Sergei
Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. This concert begins with “Chapter 1,” which follows the dreaming of the stars.
I create the atmosphere based on the music of the Argentinian composer, Astor Piazolla. Chapter 1 is divided
into three sections: introduction, represented by Etude Tango No. 3, a middle section, and an ending section,
both of which follow the dream represented by L’histoire du Tango. Movement II, “Cafe 1930,” has many
emotions, like the journey of the character. The fourth movement, “Concert d’Aujourd’hui,” tells of how the
character comes to understand the meaning of power. “Chapter 2,” in this concert is an Audio Book story
from “Who is (that)?.” This chapter creates a different atmosphere from the first chapter because the story
tells of a girl who finds a strange story on her way home from school. The story is told using the music of
German composer Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concert in E minor, Op. 64.
