Name of work: Consulting Services for Design and supervision Consultant- Bridges (Package No.

UDRP/R&B/AF/DSC/B/01).

1. Scope of work for Design of Bridges.

Scope of work shall be as per TOR of above project which has already been given to you and be not
limited to the following major tasks:-

1. To prepare GAD, designs & working drawings of bridges.

2. To provide design criteria/detailed design calculations, in support of each design, analysis
including preparation of working drawing
3. To prepare detail of measurements, bill of quantities and estimate on existing central SOR of
PWD.
4. The scope of also includes the design of erection / launching scheme along with all relevant
working details. (The design of bridges should be in accordance to the standard codes of practices
and specifications)
5. Providing working drawings (with soft copies in AutoCAD format)/detailed
calculations/specifications/erection/launching scheme for each standard span and for each type of
bridge.
6. Review and Finalization of appropriate alignment and span arrangement for the proposed bridge.
7. To participate in meetings related to design and construction of bridges.
8. Support the contractor and field divisions at the time of implementation of designs.
9. To provide safety standards and procedures to be adopted during execution of the project along
with a list of do’s and don’ts for the field engineers.
10. The analysis/design of the bridges should be done using latest technology/innovative and cost
effective solutions/methodology/latest software tools and the provisions given in
national/international codes of practices should be thoroughly followed in designing the bridges
and no compromise should be made w.r.t the safety of the bridges to be constructed
11. To prepare Quality Assurance Manual and maintenance manual for the bridges.
12. To provide all references of the codes followed in the design along with the photocopies of
relevant pages of codes used as part of D.P.R.
13. The designer shall compulsorily mention the design methodology used in the process of design
(like Elastic Design/Ultimate load theory/Limit State Design).
14. While developing the design, Designer shall engage in discussions with field staff and Zonal Chief
Engineer, so as to incorporate their suggestions, and resolve field problems.
15. Coordination and liaison with district EAs, contractors, Proof Consultants and other stakeholders
involved in the design and construction of bridges.
16. Support the contractor and field divisions at the time of implementation of designs.
17. To provide design basis report (DBS).
18. To do hydraulic calculations for working out discharge of stream/river including deciding HFL
for use in design of bridge.
