Nayeli Lopez -Relevancy Statements

● Legal Issues: During this activity I performed and learned the following: Citing

Media, General/ Fair Use and Copyright Violation, and Creative Commons. In

this specific activity I learned the importance of citing my sources because I

could be violating someone else’s work.

● 21st Century Workplace Skills: For this specific project, I learned to apply 21st

Century Skills to an actual future job I could perform with my degree. It

prepared me for when I actually apply to a job in the future and I already have

an idea of what the companies are looking for. It taught me some Microsoft

Word skills I can use in the future.

● Social Media: For this activity, I learned the pros and cons of social media and

we had a discussion as a class. As a millenia, I never knew social media had such

bad effects in our generation. We had a discussion as a class, and got to share

our personal opinions about social media. It taught me the reality of social

media in our generation.

● Web 2.0 Animation: The first activity was; Podcasts, Polling, Collaborative

Tools. I had never used a podcast or a poll before, it taught me the skills to

perform such activities in the future.

The second activity was to produce a powtoon animation. I called it “Being a

millenial”. It was my first time producing such production and I became quite

familiar with the powtoons. I actually produced another one with these skills for

another class.
● Graphic Design: I got to produce a QR CODE all on my own! It was satisfying to

produce a graphic design all on my own, since I’m not very familiar with

technology on my own.

● Digital Photo Editing: This activity was pretty fun, I was quite familiar with

photo editing like adding filters to photographs I post on Instagram. It

expanded my skills to another level!

● Produce an Infographic with Piktochart: This was one of my favorite activities

and I was pretty proud of producing a Piktochart. I produced a personal resume

for future jobs where I included all my skills I have gained from this class and

my past skills.

● Screencast and Screenshot: I felt like a youtuber while performing this activity

and I became quite the pro. I probably refilmed this about ten times before I

obtained the perfect video. It definitely taught me a lot of skills to use later in

the future, not only in my profession but in my future classes.

● Tech Talk: This was my personal favorite! I was quite familiar with the

technology I presented to my class since I would sell in on the sales floor at

Tmobile when I worked there. It definitely made an impact in the class because

no one had idea it existed.

● Coding: This activity taught the basic skills which are just the beginning of an

adventure in coding. I didn’t even know what coding was until this modules

introduced me to it. It was quite fun, but taught me professional skills.

● AAR: This activity improved my team-work and communications skills, since I

am a very shy individual. The process of developing the adequate research in

order for us to present to the class taught me a lot, not only about the topic but I

became quite familiar with the topic.

● Cover Letter/ Resume: I had already created a resume, but never a cover letter

before. I decided to create my cover letter to my future graduate school. It

taught me the skills to create one and what to include in it.

● Storyboard/ Digital Story Video Production: During this activity, I performed

my storyboard as a powerpoint of my life. I later produced a digital video about

it using WEVIDEO.COM. I had a similar project for another class, and I

produced a similar video using the same software since this class taught me the

skills to use it.
