Opening Keynote: Lead with Purpose to Achieve Clarity in
a World of Ambiguity
In a world characterized by uncertainty, risk, doubt and “fake news,” the role
of data and analytics has achieved heroic proportions— a reliable way to
bring new levels of clarity, trust and purposefulness to every corner of the
enterprise. In this opening Keynote, four members of the Gartner analyst
team explored why ambiguity is an inevitable by-product of today’s

Willful Disruption: Seven Digital Disruptions You Might Not See Coming
Just because you can’t see digital disruptions coming doesn’t mean they aren’t there—and forward-thinking IT leaders are
advised to see them as opportunities, not threats. In this thought-provoking Keynote, Gartner Analyst Daryl Plummer urged
attendees to prepare for seven potential disruptions in 2019 and beyond—whether they’re perfectly obvious or harder to detect.
“Digital disruption is the critical discipline for modern success,” said Plummer, “because it’s happening more frequently
and faster than ever before.”

Gartner Magic Quadrant Power Sessions
Review sessions
Where are critical technology markets headed? Which products and
providers will pull ahead—and which will fall behind? In these Gartner
powered sessions, attendees got a first-hand look at how Gartner Magic
Quadrants can provide a wide-angle view of the forces, trends and relative
positions of competitors in critical market areas. With clear graphics and a
uniform set of evaluation criteria, the team explained, this proprietary
assessment tool clearly communicates how well technology providers are
executing against their stated visions, and how successfully they are
performing in Gartner’s view.

Divided into four parts, each Magic Quadrant showed how vendors are
ranked, based on their effectiveness in each area-- and identified as
visionaries, niche players, leaders or challengers. This year’s sessions explored
a variety of trends and changes that are impacting nine key data and analytics
platform markets.

“A Magic Quadrant isn’t just a diagram. It’s an analysis of a

market for both now and the future.”

BI Bake-Off: Modern Analytics and BI
In this fifth annual Analytics and BI bake-off, analyst Cindi Howson walked the
Orlando Summit audience through the findings of four exhibiting vendors
based on a global data set, and proposed action steps in response. This year,
the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Economist contributed their data
from a groundbreaking survey on loneliness, which was combined with
Gartner’s Consumer Values Survey data, focused on loneliness and
technology impacts. Here are the results:
