Guard the Castle Time 15-20min

Equipment Per • 15x football


Group • 8x marker cones (4 colours)
Instructions • 2 even teams
• Defenders stand 3m apart and can only move sideways
• Attackers have 2 minutes to get passed the defenders
and into the castle
• Once in the castle the attacks place their ball on the
ground and return to get another via the boundary line
• If attackers are tagged by defenders they must go to the
dungeon
• To be released from the dungeon attackers must throw
their ball in the air, clap and catch it 5 times then return
to the starting position
• When times up count how many balls in the castle
• Swap positions

Variations/ • When a defender has completed a touch, they must run


progression to the attackers area and back

Line defence Time 15-20min
Equipment Per • 1x football
Group • 4x cones
Instructions • Set students up as diagram
• 2x groups of 4
• 4 attackers run forward with defenders only allowed to
move after the feeder passes the first pass
• The aim is for the attackers to score a try
• The last attacker is to run onto the ball at full speed
• Defenders must work out how to defend the situation

Variations/ • Allow 1x roll ball to take place

2v1 Time 15-20min
Equipment Per • 1x football
Group • 4x cones
Instructions • Set students up as diagram
• Carrier takes a pass from the feeder and uses footwork to
beat the defender who is applying pressure but not
touching
• Once the attackers beat the defender it is now a 2v1 with
the last defender
• Feeder just runs along boundary
• The defender must then decide how they will defend the
situation
