Siberian wilderness full of mysteries

Siberia is a huge territory that extends to the east from the Ural mountains to the Pacific and the Arctic
Ocean. Population density of this area is about three people per square kilometer, and this is one of the
least densely populated places on Earth. Nevertheless, it was this territory that turned out to be a real
treasure for archaeologists.

Thanks to the cool dry air and permafrost, many ancient artifacts have been stunningly well preserved
for thousands of years and Kulturologia website brought some interesting list for you to check out:
1. The Shigir idol

Archaeologists have discovered the world’s oldest wooden sculpture during the excavation of a swamp
in Western Siberia at the end of the 19th century. Idol’s age was estimated at 11,000 years, i.е. this idol
is twice older than the great pyramids and 6,000 years older than Stonehenge. The 2.8-meter-high
sculpture was carved from 157-year-old larch, which was processed by stone implements.
Considering that the idol lay for thousands of years in a swamp, it has been perfectly preserved. Some
believe that strange lines on the idol contain some encrypted information. Others suggest that this idol,
which was once a height of 5.2 meters, can be a prototype of the Indian totem.
2. The Siberian Amazons

In 1990, archaeologists discovered the remains of a female warrior in the Altai Mountains in Siberia.
The 2500-year-old girl with pigtails, as scientists believe, was in the elite group of Pazyryk warriors.
She was buried with a shield, a battle ax, a bow and arrows. Ancient Greek writer Hippocrates noted
that the Scythians had warriors, called Amazons. Many thought that at last one of these mythical
warriors was discovered. Nevertheless, DNA analysis destroyed these assumptions.
It turns out that the girl was about 16 years old at the time of her death. “Amazon” was buried in the
environment filled with symbols of fertility, such as shells, as well as amulets. Near her were the
remains of nine horses, which suggests a high status of the girl. The cause of the death of the “warrior
with a pigtail” remains a mystery.
3. The most ancient oncology
Many believe that cancer is a modern disease. Over the years, researchers have suggested that ancient
people who were constantly active and ate natural foods had no cancer. Nevertheless, in 2014 a
discovery was made that refutes this: the remains of a man who lived in Siberia in the Bronze Age, who
died of prostate cancer.

Although earlier cases of 6000-year-old benign tumors have been found, it is these 4500-year-old
remains that are the oldest absolutely confirmed case of cancer. Most of the men stopping at this place
were found in a posture on their backs next to guns for hunting and fishing. Nevertheless, the “man
with cancer” was different from them: he was found in the embryo posture with a bone spoon, covered
with intricate carvings, next to it.
4. The idol that changed the race

Archaeologists believe that the 2,400-year-old Siberian stone idol was subjected to a “race change”
during the early Middle Ages. Ust-Taseevsky idol once had large protruding nostrils, a large open
mouth, a mustache and a thick beard. Experts believe that about 1500 years ago someone subjected him
to “plastic surgery” to make the idol less like a European, and more like an Asian. He was made
narrower eyes, and his beard and mustache were “shaved off.”
Archaeologists believe that the Ust-Taseyev idol was originally carved during the Scythian period,
when the inhabitants of the region were Europeans. But during the early Middle Ages, the population of
the Angara River region was “squeezed out” by the Mongols who came with the invasion.
5. Bone armor

Archaeologists have recently unearthed a full set of bone armor in Siberia. 900-year-old armor was
made from the bone of an unknown animal and was buried separately from its owner in the wooded
western steppe near modern Omsk.

While most of the finds in this area belong to the Mole culture, the researchers believe that the armor
belongs to Samus-Daimin culture, which originated in the Altai mountains, before spreading to the
southwest. The armor was found surprisingly in excellent condition at a depth of 1.5 meters.
6. The oldest sewing needles

Archaeologists have discovered the world’s oldest sewing needle in the Altai mountains. A 50,000-
year-old needle was found in the Denisova Cave and it was not used by Homo sapiens.

The 7-centimeter needle has a hole for the thread, and it was made from the bone of a large unknown
bird. It was found in the same layer as the remains of mysterious hominids – the Denisov man.
7. Okunev’s aristocrat

In the Siberian republic of Khakassia archaeologists have discovered the remnants of the
“noblewoman” of the ancient culture Okunev. Experts believe that Okunev culture was a Siberian
ethnic group most closely associated with Native Americans. In the grave, dating from the XXV –
XVIII centuries BC.
The remains of the child and a huge treasure were also found. The tomb contained 100 ornaments made
from the teeth of animals, their bones and horns, tools, two vessels, cases filled with bone needles, a
bronze knife and more than 1500 beads adorning the burial clothes of “aristocrats”. The closed tomb
was a stone slab with the image of a bull.
8. 3000-year-old trepanation of the skull
In 2015, archaeologists near the “Oil Pipeline 2” in Siberia found a skull on which there is clear
evidence of an operation on the brain that was carried out 3000 years ago. The patient died between the
ages of 30 and 40, and the open parietal bone of his skull had signs of overgrowth, indicating that he
lived for a certain period of time after trepanation.
Experts believe that his death was caused by postoperative inflammation.
9. Dead baby lions, Uina and Uyan

In 2015, researchers discovered the remains of two dead lions in the permafrost of Siberia. The animals
named Dina and Uyan were 57,000 years old and they are young cave lions, which died out about 10
thousand years ago.
They were old only 1-2 weeks, when the cave ceiling fell on the lion. The opaque liquid of white color,
found in their stomachs, can be the oldest milk in the world.
10. Couple holding hands for 5000 years

On the shores of Lake Baikal, an unusual burial was discovered this year. In the grave lay a couple who
held hands for 5000 years. Skeletons of the Bronze Age, which belong to the eye culture, are believed
to belong to an important person and his wife or mistress.
In the burial were also found rings of rare white jade, rings, pendants made from deer bone and musk
deer’s teeth, a 50-centimeter dagger from jade and a metal object of unknown purpose in a bag between
the legs of a man.

There is a mystery which shrouds Por Bajin. There is a huge debate on what Por Bajin actually was and
nobody till today knows exactly what was the purpose of this place. Located between the Sayan and
Altai Range, Por Bajin is located very close to the Mongolia borders. While some believe that the place
was a summer palace and monastery, others believe that it was the Chinese forbidden city because the
place is completely unaffected by any form of civilization. A distinctive Chinese influence has been
observed in the architecture. It is yet to be known that whether the structure was built on water or the
lake surrounding it formed later. This 1,300-year-old structure has been marred by many natural
calamities including earthquakes.

11. Siberia Valley of death

The Siberia Valley of death has a very scary history. The place is surrounded by half buried giant metal
cauldrons. The place does not have a good reputation and there are hundreds of folk tales surrounding
it. These metal cauldrons were smooth and hollow. Though the area was a trade route most traders did
pass through it, given its mysterious reputation. No one knows where the metal cauldrons came from,
because there are barely any inhabitants in that area.

Ancient Unsolved Mysteries Of Siberia – A Place Full Of Secrets

AncientPages.com | May 19, 2014 | Ancient Places, Featured Stories, News

AncientPages.com - Siberia is full of secrets and although we have uncovered several ancient tombs,
settlements and artifacts in this region, a number of unsolved ancient mysteries surround this place.
These super megaliths were found and photographed for the first time in 2014 by Georgy Sidorov,
researcher and a proponent of unconventional theories regarding humanity's past, on his expedition to
Siberian Mountains.
There are no known earlier photographs of these megalithic stones, located in the vicinity of the Shoria
Mountain in Southern Siberia.
This massive wall of gigantic granite stones is veiled in the mists of deep antiquity.
There are only speculations regarding their cyclopean masonry, their builders, their technique methods
and first of all, purpose and true meaning of their work.

All photographs are from the Russian website of Valery Uvarov, scientist, ufologist and a specialist in
paleosciences and paleotechnology, who devoted more than 22 years to the study of heritage of ancient
civilizations.
Scientists have not yet commented on the discovery, so the information about the structure is extremely
limited. Thus, there is a possibility for all of us to hypothesize about their origin.
Some of these megaliths could easily weigh 3,000 to 4,000 tons, and many of them were cut "with flat
surfaces, sharp corners and right angles."

So how does someone cut granite stones 3,000 tons with extreme precision, transported through the
mountainside and stack 40 meters high?
We have to throw away the commonly accepted version of history and its explanations for unusual and
bizarre things. Several examples of prehistoric stone constructions have been found and they show a
remarkable degree of sophistication.
Could it be possible that there is much more in the history of our planet than we have been taught?

Siberia is a place that is difficult to explore which is also a reason why the outside world has not heard
anything about these astonishing megaliths until now.

Winters are very cold in Siberia, and snow covers the land for many months. Summers are humid,
infamous for their floods and myriads of mosquitoes. Those who have lived in the area keep fires in
their huts all the year to save themselves from swarms of ever-present insects.
The region has populated by various tribes since ancient times, as far back as the Mesolithic age.

Earlier this year, archaeologists discovered a burial with human remains mummified seemingly by
accident. The mummies were wearing copper masks.

A red haired man was found, protected from chest to foot by copper plating, among a group of bodies
in a mysterious burial ground in Siberia.
Eleven of the bodies found in the medieval burial place had either smashed skeletons or missing and
shattered skulls. They may have been damaged by their peers deliberately to prevent spells emanating
from them. Who these people were remains a puzzle to Russian archaeologists and experts.
As we also mention earlier in one of our articles, hidden deep in the Ural Mountains are thousands of
years old giant lines that are only visible from space. Who created them and for what purpose remains
unknown.

Researchers estimate that this ancient giant figure is much older than the Nazca Lines of Peru.
In our article accuracy and complexity of the Arkain structure in the Ural Mountains we discussed
another mysterious place in Siberia that is also a scientific enigma. People who visited Arkhaim,
witnessed strange lights (not that of satellites) moving in the sky, mysterious light flashes, appearance
of fog clusters and unexplained abrupt changes in atmospheric temperature.
People often start to feel not well in the area, reporting unexplainable psychic tension and disturbances
in blood pressure, body temperature and changes in heart beating rhythm.

Thousands of years old legends and myths from the region of Ural Mountains and ancient Siberia say
that Arkaim is not any ordinary place where people live.
On the contrary, four thousand years ago, the local inhabitants suddenly abandoned Arkaim and the
empty settlement burnt.
What happened to these people? Were did the go?
Now, we can add the enigmatic megaliths discovered by Georgy Sidorov to the list of unsolved
mysteries. Perhaps this was once a site of great importance to an ancient lost civilization that used it for
shamanistic or other unknown purpose.
How many more secrets will we uncover in Siberia? Only time will tell… Siberia remains a land full of
secrets.

Gigantic Ancient Stone Structures Hidden In The Ural Mountains

MessageToEagle.com | February 15, 2014 | Ancient Mysteries

MessageToEagle.com – When you hear about the Nazca Lines, you tend to think about Peru. Perhaps
you also recall the thousands of unknown structures seen from space in the Middle East that we
discussed in another of our articles.
As we have said so many times before: Planet Earth is still full of surprises! New, puzzling, thousands
of years old giant lines that are only visible from space have been discovered in the Ural Mountains in
Russia.

Many years ago, on the W. Siberian plains just east of the Ural mountains,on the rivers Išim and Tobol
Russian archaeologists found what could be considered as the earliest attested traces of Aryan culture.
Later, at the site of Potapovka, scientists came across a unique burial. It contained a human skeleton
whose head had been replaced by a horse head; a human head was found near his feet, along with a
bone pipe, and a cow’s head was placed near his knees.
A recent discovery reveals the Ural Mountains are still full of secrets.
Near the Zjuratkul lake in the Ural Mountains north of Kazakhstan there is a huge geoglyph in the
shape of an elk or deer.

Researchers estimate that this ancient giant figure is several thousand years older than the Nazca Lines
of Peru.
The animal-shaped stone structure was originally discovered by Alexander Shestakov who first spotted
it on satellite images.
The entire stone structure is gigantic. Researchers say it stretches for about 900 feet (275 meters) at its
farthest points, from northeast to southeast. The size is equivalent to two American football fields.

“The figure would initially have looked white and slightly shiny against the green grass background,”
writes Stanislav Grigoriev, of the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of History & Archaeology,
and Nikolai Menshenin, of the State Centre for Monument Protection, in an article first detailing the
discovery published last spring in the journal Antiquity. They note that it is now covered by a layer of
soil.

According to Grigoriev “the hoof is made of small crushed stones and clay.”
Since there are other similar sites in the area, Russian archaeologists believe this enormous stone
structure was created by an unknown megalith culture that was present in the Urals thousands of years
ago.

Arkaim: A Scientific Enigma And Anomalous Zone

MessageToEagle.com | April 24, 2014 | Ancient Mysteries, Featured Stories, Strange & Unexplained

MessageToEagle.com – This place is unique and surrounded by mystery.

Arkaim is one of twenty prehistoric sites covering an area that expands over 400 by 200 km on the
Eurasian steppes east of the southern part of Ural Mountains.
It’s commonly agreed that Arkaim, a circular fortified settlement, roughly 150 metres in diameter, and
related artefacts was built somewhere between 4000-5000 years ago.
Other sites in the vicinity of Arkaim, dated to 2300-1600 BC were discovered by aerial survey that
definitely confirmed a great importance of this region of Ural.

Arkaim, a circular fortified settlement, roughly 150 metres in diameter was built somewhere between
4000-5000 years ago.
Thousands of years old legends and myths from the region of Ural Mountains and ancient Siberia say
that Arkaim is not any ordinary place where people live. On the contrary, four thousand years ago, the
local inhabitants suddenly abandoned Arkaim and the empty settlement burnt.
It was once located in the southern part of what today is the Chelyabinsk Region.
Arkaim’s circular fortification aligned with stars has even more complex structure than the famous
Stonehenge but Arkaim is, in fact, located in a remote place of Russia and is not so well-known as the
British stone rings.

The accuracy and complexity of Arkaim structure is a scientific enigma.

It’s long been known that Stonehenge has and was built with astronomical observation in mind and
possibly may still allow for observations of 10 astronomical phenomena using 22 elements, whereas
some archaeoastronomers claim that Arkaim allows for observations of 18 phenomena using 30
elements.
This essentially means that certain events in the sky could be observed and tracked by using the site in
particular ways and from different positions, and that Arkaim offered more observable events than
Stonehenge.
According to Russian archaeologist K.K. Bystrushkin, Stonehenge offers an observational accuracy of
10-arc minutes to a degree, whereas Arkaim offers accuracy of 1-arc minute.
Original structure at Arkaim – according to an artist’s impression
This precision was only recorded in the Almagest of ancient Greece.
Astronomers who carefully investigated the location of the Arkaim’s remains, found no traces of any
earlier constructions in that area. The accuracy and complexity of Arkaim structure is a scientific
enigma.
However, the strangeness of this anomalous zone does not end here.
One of the greatest puzzles regarding Arkaim is the fire which destroyed the prehistoric settlement.
This prehistoric incident is very difficult to explain.
No reliable explanation was proposed regarding the absence of any human remains in the burnt place.
The only possible suggestion could be that the residents already left the settlement before the fire broke
out.

One of the greatest puzzles regarding Arkaim is the fire which destroyed the prehistoric settlement
A number of professionals such as historians, archaeologists and ethnographers demonstrated their true
interest in the anomalous area of Arkaim. The place has been visisted by thousands of astrologists,
prophets, contactees, psychics and members of religious cults.
These people did not contribute much to the understanding of the Arkaim’s phenomena, but they did
witness strange lights (not that of satellites) moving in the sky, mysterious light flashes, appearance of
fog clusters and unexplained abrupt changes in atmospheric temperature.
People often start to feel not well in the area, reporting unexplainable psychic tension and disturbances
in blood pressure, body temperature and changes in heart beating rhythm.
The fact is that Arkaim’s distant past is an unknown page of history and apparently, there are many
secrets hidden in the prehistoric remains of Arkaim considered by many as “holy Arkaim”.
